If it's any good it will make the money. I want Casino Royale good at least. =)

I feel like Casino Royale will be the best Bond film for a while. Awesome movie, and none since have really been as good. Maybe No Time to Die will be a surprise.

So next question: How much does/should MGM care about the financial success of the movie, when it's soon not to be their problem?

Kind of a ridiculous question. It’s not like MGM Studios is ceasing to exist. They still are in the business to make money. That’s like asking what does Marvel care about the success of The Avengers now that Disney bought them. Not to mention Bond is 50% owned by Eon.

Touche.

I just think with the rise of streaming, Box office numbers are going to matter less and less to a movies "success"

Maybe to domestic box office, but international still makes up a majority of box office dollars.

Just curious: is this is the longest discussion for a specific movie prior to its release?

Watching that trailer my initial reaction was "Oh yeah, remember when Rami Malek was a thing?" Feels like a lifetime ago.

Regardless of the money issue, the movie looks great.

Of course, that's the job of trailers - to make the movie look great, but this one definitely looks like it could be up there with Casino Royale and Skyfall.

As for the money thing? It is what it is. The movie will eventually turn a profit. Whether it's in a year, five years, or twenty years, it will turn a profit.

While I will admit the trailer is good, I have a feeling this may be a case of selling the audience a bill of goods, kind of like the people who cut the trailers for A24 movies. Don't get me wrong. I'm someone who actually enjoys most of A24's output, but I also know their tendency to mislead can be damaging.

Speaking of how Rami Malek used to be a thing, I wonder if it's keeping the same Billie Eilish song from back when she was a thing?

Back when she was a thing? So far this year : she just won her second consecutive Record of the Year Grammy despite not even having an album coming out. She also won a Grammy for that Bond song. Her Apple + documentary is currently nominated for 4 Emmy Awards.
Her new album came out a month ago and spent three weeks at #1. She has a promotional documentary on the album coming out on Disney + on Friday.

How much success have YOU had in 2021 so far?

Sorry, I was actually referring to the number of posts. But yes, in terms of time, 11 years is tough to beat.

that would have to be "The Man Who Killed Don Quixote " as it was 29 years in the making and covered here for most of that time if not all.

And honestly, 5 years isn't that long of a time, especially during these times lol

Wouldn't that just give me the threads with the highest post counts? If people add to the same discussion after the release of the movie then those posts would be a part of the total.

Yes, but regardless of that, the answer to your question is no. There are plenty that have more posts than this before the film came out or a separate Review thread was made. There are other threads of movies that haven’t even come out yet (The Batman) that have more than this.

FYI, the new Bond documentary is up. It’s a limited time only free rental on Apple. It’s not part of your Apple TV + subscription The film is available until from September 7th until October 7th.

It’s 46 minutes.

You can also rent it on the Apple TV + app if you don’t own an Apple TV device.

So if you want to see this, you better hurry.

Re: No Time to Die (Bond 25) (2021, D: Fukunaga) -- News, rumors, etc.

Just finished it. It’s not a bad little retrospective on Craig’s career as Bond. Craig, Wilson and Broccoli are narrating it like a round table discussion. But it’s audio only. They show movie footage, scenes from press junkets and behind the scenes footage with their audio track. It’s a new recording because they go into No Time to Die and talk about Craig’s final day on set and show footage of it. Craig does talk about how he was burnt out after Spectre. But Barbara Broccoli convinced him to do one more film.

Worth a watch. Hopefully this gets added to the No Time to Die BD and 4K UHD.

“No Time to Die” is a done deal. United Artists has informed domestic exhibitors when tickets can go on sale (Friday, September 17 at 9 a.m. ET), when shows can start (Thursday, October 7 at 4 p.m.), and the film’s final running time (163 minutes).

Bought tickets to see the Fri Oct 8th evening showing at ipic. I haven't seen a film at ipic since Annihilation 3 years ago. Also, I think the prices went down. The premium seating I could have sworn used to be $30 per seat. Got these for $20 each

If iPic was always at $20, my wife and I would have gone a lot more to those theaters.

$30 a ticket? Does that include a happy ending?
