James Cameron has been making feminist action movies his whole career. And I've never heard a complaint. he makes it all seem credible.

Love him or not, James Cameron (up until Avatar 2 - 4, which remains to be seen) doesn't seem to just make cash grabs, which this definitely feels like.

I still don't think it'll be as terrible as people are making it out to be, but I'm easily amused.

He said it himself on many ocassions that Avatar is a hippie tree hugger movie, I have only seen it once and never again, nor will I watch the sequels.

She doesn't look any more buff than McKinnon or Wiig. Maybe you should consider the possibility that the dearth of female garbage collectors isn't due to physical shortcomings.

Let me guess you think gender is a construct, which are the same people behind this movie, who are trying to make an indoctrinating piece of trash to force men out of STEM(science, technology, engineering, mathematics) fields. Besides B5Erik is right.

There's nothing wrong with being a MGTOW or an MRA (and I am not talking about the extremist, misogynistic type). MRA's especially can have valid concerns. And if they aren't being misogynists, I'd like to think of them as egalitarians (as I would myself). But some of the stuff in this thread is definitely out there. 40 lb. proton packs? That was just weird.

Re: Ghostbusters (2016) - The Trailer

I don't identify as MGTOW or MRA, but see there are valids concerns from both groups. The world constantly belittles men, feminists who create fake issues about Mansplaining, manspreading, thinking male dominated STEM fields are a problem when men are interested in them and women are not, and deeming any form of masculinity toxic. Then on top of that taking away every thing male centric in pop culture, to fuel their unending sense of entitlement and narcissism. I have said before, but I don't feel safe around women my own age, and don't know when I will Anytime soon.

Yes, but you have to remember that this is stuff that comes from extreme feminists, it's not representative of an entire gender. What do you mean by not feeling safe?

James Cameron has been making feminist action movies his whole career. And I've never heard a complaint. It's because the films themselves are good. This doesn't look good. It's just that simple. If it looked good no one would complain. Just as no one complained about the strong female roles in Aliens and Terminator and The Abyss and True Lies.

Well said. But again, people were railing against "Mad Max: Fury Road" and "The Force Awakens" because they viewed them as feminist propaganda. It's too bad, too, because they missed out on two damn good movies. I'm sure a lot of those same people downvoted that GB trailer. And I'm sure a lot downvoted it because it just looks bad.

No, it's really not. But I don't entirely blame you for thinking this way. When all you know about a subject is what you read on the internet, of course you'll believe that everything falls to the extremes. That's what the internet does. It takes a totally appropriate set of ideals and pushes it to the extremes.

I urge you to go out and have a conversation with real life women. You'll be surprised that all they really want is to be treated as equals and they don't care if you sit with your legs spread open.

The Amazing Atheist had a lot to say about the most hated trailer in youtube history. Pretty much saying there is nothing competent about this movie. Rebooting a classic movie, and not for the fans, but for fat tumblr feminists.

Nothing competent? That guy needs to be introduced to the works of Coleman Francis. Truly incompetent films are rare.

While there are a lot of bad movies made every year, the ones that have nothing competent about them are lucky to turn up on a director's YouTube page.

I see plenty of movies that are actually incompetent every year. This doesn't look like one of them. It can still be a bad movie, but like you said, it isn't incompetent by any stretch.

Or is it this TJ

Rape isn't fatal. So imagine my indignation when I saw a chatroom called 'Rape Survivors.' Is this supposed to impress me? Someone fucked you when you didn't want to be fucked and you're amazed that you survived? Unless he used a chainsaw instead of his dick, what's the big deal? I don’t mean to be horrendously offensive and insensitive here, but everyone survives rape. The word survivor applies to people who are alive after being stabbed 73 times with an ice pick or mauled by rabid wolverines, not to a woman who gets dick when she doesn't want it. Just because you got raped, you have to rape the English language? You vindictive bitch! Also, don't you ever get tired of being the victim? How many failed relationships are you going to blame on a single violation of your personal space?
Kirk?

Just trying to figure out if you're linking to the right person claiming not to be a complete pile of shit.

^^^I don't know what your getting at? Just figured I would post this video here since he was mentioned in the Regressive left thread. We all have a part to play in making sure this version of Ghostbusters is destroyed and an utter failure. Amy Pascal thankfully lost her job after the Sony hack. I honestly don't know how Tom Rothman got another job after the countless movies he destroyed at Fox. Since Paul Feig thinks we are all too stupid to understand his genius, hopefully this movie kills his career.

Why does everything have to be DESTROYED by you guys? Why can't it just fizzle into insignificance; a lost memory of a time when women were the stars of action comedies? Why are you SO angry, broh?

I can't tell if you're being serious now or not.

I don't think anyone is really saying anything of value in the negative towards Ghostbusters 1. It's pretty much held pretty high in regard.

Just get a fleshlight and fuck yourself to not feel so wronged by the vagina.

You can't have something which was never seen before be a gimmick. By the same token, Paul Feig's entire pitch for this was "Hey Ghostbusters with women!" So yes, it is a gimmick and it's not hard for most people with the exception of you and Guru to see.

Yep.

If the first Ghostbusters would've had four female leads: original
If 30 years later, a reboot with four male leads: gimmick.

Not sure why this concept is so hard to grasp for some people.

What if '39's The Women which had an all-female cast been remade with basically the same premise but with an all-male cast, would that not be a gimmick as well? It can work both ways.

^^ that got me thinking -- what other movies that are female centric without having words denoting that in the title ("The Women", "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants", "Bridesmaids", etc.) ? (besides pr0n and everyone's soon to be favorite Ghostbusters movie, of course).

I've got:
-Set It Off
-Spring Breakers
