The Founder (2016, D: John Lee Hancock) S: Michael Keaton as Ray Kroc
“McDonald’s can be the new American church, and it ain’t just open on Sundays,” Michael Keaton’s character says in the first trailer for “The Founder.”
The film follows milkshake-machine-salesman-turned-fast-food-empire-owner Ray Kroc, who build turned McDonald’s into a billion dollar business.
Kroc began working for the McDonald brothers as a franchising agent in 1954, at the age of 51, and bought the chain for $2.7 million in 1961.
Directed by John Lee Hancock, the movie also stars Nick Offerman, Linda Cardellini, Laura Dern, B.J. Novak and John Carroll Lynch.
The Weinstein Company recently changed the release date from Nov. 25 to Aug. 4.

3rd time's the charm. This looks great and Keaton will get an another Oscar nomination. Wouldn't be surprised if he wins it, too.

Never seen anything directed by Hancock except for the Alamo. Jesus.. that was a boring as fuck movie for what history seems to not make boring at all compared to that thing.

The script was quite good. That trailer gives away a lot of shit that happens near the end, but then again, it's a known story.

EDIT - just saw that it was released in limited on 12/16/17. I don't think it played anywhere around here.

I meant at a festival or something. There are people who see things early on these boards.
I'm just surprised Keaton isn't being positioned for Lead Actor nominations.

One thing I will say is I hope they portray Joan fairly. She was a great contributor to many charities (especially in San Diego) and was a popular owner while she still owned the Padres. She was very highly regarded and respected in town.

I think Linda Cardellini is playing her in the movie? She's a solid underrated actrss.
