The Truth And Other Lies (D: Brian De Palma)
EXCLUSIVE: Brian De Palma has come attached to direct The Truth And Other Lies, the black comedy based on the award-winning Sascha Arango novel optioned by Chockstone Pictures and Nick Wechsler Productions. Steve Schwartz, Paula Mae Schwartz and Wechsler are producing, and Roger Schwartz is a co-producer.
Arango wrote the script based on the 2015 bestseller, which was awarded the European prize for best literary debut: the Prix Européen du Polar du Point. The main character is famous writer Henry Hayden, whose facade of being a virtuous, loving husband is in danger of falling apart when his mistress becomes pregnant. He tries to get rid of her but makes a terrible mistake in the process. In order to keep the past from catching up with him, Henry must manage a growing series of lies and complications.
“I have tried to portray Henry Hayden as a human product of modern meritocracy, where the individual is no longer defined by moral integrity, but by power and success,” Arango said. “In the Facebook era, the original becomes indistinguishable from fake. Success replaces faith and becomes religion.”

I guess that's cool. Never seen anything from De Palma since he made Snake Eyes. I just don't see his new stuff as they don't seem all that good. Wanted to see Black Dahlia but heard that one was all kinds of bad.

I liked Femme Fatale. Not a good movie per se but I enjoy it. It just looks sexy, which I guess is a given with a 29 year old Rebecca Romijn running around in her underwear for most of the movie.

Passion was such an overlooked film the year it came out. I had it in my top 3 films that came out that year. I thought it was great.

I forgot about Redacted. I liked it enough. No one else did and bombed quite horribly but I want to say it was one of the first films released via VOD, I think. I know Mark Cuban also had something to do with the production either through funding or distribution.

I don't think Redacted had anything to do with VOD, other than flopping in limited and quickly arriving on VOD.

Ah, here it is. Yeah, there was a feud going on with De Palma and Cuban, because Cuban did indeed finance the film for about 5 million dollars then De Palma later said Cuban censored or cut it up. I misspoke about the VOD part.
