That poster fucking rules - I can't wait for this. She's my favorite MCU character and I can't wait for her to get the movie she's deserved since the beginning.

Look, it's probably going to be a decent movie, maybe even a great one, but she's dead. This should have been a phase 2 movie... it seems tacked on. MCU has done such a great job building on each other, but this one really feels like an afterthought.

Yep. I enjoy some prequels, but this is the first Marvel movie I’m not excited about at all whatsoever. Well this and Shang Chi. Two different reasons though.

I’m not saying I’m not going to see this or that it’ll be bad just to clarify. I can see not being ultra stoked about it though. Like I said before they should have really put this in place of Captain Marvel and waited until Phase 4 to introduce Captain Marvel. There wasn’t a big need for her to be in Endgame when she hardly was in the film.

Marvel has always seemed to be ahead of the game when it came to game planning the release of their movies. It just doesn’t make a lot of sense to get to the definitive conclusion to this particular story and characters just to throw in a side-quel in for a character that we saw die.

It’s got a very “consolation prize for Scarlett” feel to it.

now maybe if it plants the seeds for her to somehow return then that's a different story...

Captain Marvel is a problematic character in that she's essentially a living, breathing deus ex machina. Like a character in god mode in a video game. In Endgame I was wondering why she just didn't tear Thanos apart, fly into him so fast that he exploded, or pick him up and drop him into a black hole. (At least before he got ahold of the Infinity Gauntlet, which seemed to be the only thing that could hold her back. He actually had to hit her with the power stone to take her out.) She's like Superman on steroids, and with he around you don't really need Thors and Hulks and Iron Men.

I think the same thing every time the Avengers are fighting random soldiers with Thor. I mean, just let Thor do it. He's literally a god.

It's a problem in general with powerful superheroes. People like Thor, Superman or the Flash have to basically only fight Thanos and Darkseid-level bad guys to have any sort of challenge.

Robert Downey Jr. will reportedly appear as Tony Stark. It's mentioned in a small sentence in this report about the Saturn Awards:

Robert Downey Jr.’s swan song performance as Tony Stark, aka Iron Man, in Endgame earned him the best actor in a film award. (Downey will be seen in the role of Stark one more time, however, in the Marvel prequel Black Widow in May 2020.)

William Hurt Photographed on Black Widow Set, Fans Theorize He Could Be Filming End Credits Scene | Marvel, William Hurt : Just Jared

Actor William Hurt is photographed on the set of Marvel’s Black Widow movie on Tuesday (October 1) in Macon, Ga.

The 69-year-old actor plays the role of General “Thunderbolt” Ross in the Marvel universe, and he appeared in Infinity War as an antagonist to Captain America and Black Widow, and was also spotted in Endgame at the funeral scene.

Podcaster Charles Murphy was one of the first to theorize that William Hurt could be back on set to film a post-credits scene.

“William Hurt, aka Thunderbolt Ross, is currently on the set of what I believe to be additional photography for ‘BLACK WIDOW.’ [Scarlett Johansson] is not believed to be there. Could Ross be visiting with Yelena in a post credit scene setting up a ‘THUNDERBOLTS’ project? That I cannot confirm,” he tweeted.

It’s unclear what William is actually filming, but stay tuned as we try and learn more! The film will hit theaters on May 1, 2020.

1st trailer now up. Weird timing to post it at 3am ET

Scarlett looks badass in this and I love the music they used. Looks like a fun spy thriller.

Is this Marvel's first prequel? Looks fun, I just don't know how invested I'll be in the story knowing the eventual fate of the hero.

Whoa! I wasn't expecting this for another two weeks until TRoS came out. Looks cool. Can't wait to see Florence in this!

Looks good but almost too bright to be a spy movie.

In terms of the overall MCU, no. The first Captain America movie was released after Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 1 & 2, and Thor, but takes place decades before. Likewise, Captain Marvel was set in the 90s and featured a younger version of a character we had met, Nick Fury. Getting even more nit-picky, the bulk of Ant-Man and the Wasp (everything before the mid-credits scene) takes place before Avengers: Infinity War. GotG 2 was set only a few months after GotG, so was technically set before several Marvel movies that came out before GotG 2, but since the GotG movies hadn't crossed over with the rest of the MCU yet, it wasn't really noticeable.

That a bit nonsensical isn't it? Everyone dies eventually; even comic book characters.

Considering how many comic book characters never really die, even after they supposedly die, I wouldn't be surprised if they find some way to bring her back.
