The Ring vs. The Grudge (Sadako vs. Kayako)

Yes, in the tradition of Batman vs. Superman, Japan is bringing us The Ring vs. The Grudge.

Here's the trailer. No subtitles though. Coming this June to Japan theaters.

I plan to eventually see this clash of Japanese spirits.
I am always surprised Hollywood doesn't resurrect dead horror franchises this way. How about Halloween vs. Chucky?

Personally, I want to see The Godfather v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.
This would be Christopher Reeve playing Superman. Marlon Brando plays two characters.

Never saw the original Japanese films.. saw the US Grudge, which I thought was pretty good. Never saw the US Ring. The Ring (US) any good or worth watching? I'll watching the Japanese originals at some point.

What the. I meant. I never saw The Grudge. I don't know how I'd confuse the two to name one as the other... whatever. I've seen The Ring. And that was badass. Grudge looked boring to me.
Anway... the uh... grudge characters have an instagram account.

"Ringu" is the title of the Japanese version. It irks me when people call it the Ring. That's not what it's called. If your referring to the U.S. version then by all means call it "The Ring"

That doesn't stop it from being called... Ring. Technically... it's just Ring in English. Ours is called The Ring. Soooo you know... play w/ it as you want.
But to get to the point... Ringu is probably your best bet in making sure the receiver knows wtf you're talking about to differentiate that shit.

The Grudge is a solid late night cable movie, but not one I'd set aside time to watch.

Never seen the original or the american one. The plot seems interesting. Especially the differences w/ the ghost lady thing and the violence shown.
I never cared for Sarah Michelle Gellar. Just never really did anything that really made me give a damn about her. Cute gal but nothing really attracted me to her work.

To its credit, Takashi Shimizu directed both the original Ju-on movie and the US remake, so it's very consistent with what it should be. It simply isn't a great franchise all around.
I actually have a soft spot for the Japanese Ju-on: The Grudge 2 though, I liked the way they tied the things together and thought it was just the right mix of creepy and cheesy. It kind of makes a odd, but solid, double feature with the HK movie Dumplings -- though Dumplings is a different kind of horror.

Ringu is far better and scarier than Ju-on, but I saw them too long ago to give a detailed explanation.

Saw this film a few nights ago. Really enjoyed the character of Shin'ichi Morishige, a College Professor (who conveniently) teachers Urban Legend.
I'm also tied to the how Sadako, Kayako and Toshio looked in Ringu (1998) & Ju-On: he Grudge (2002), so seeing the Nth actresses/actors portray them in this film was a disappointment for me.
The final act is bananas.
