The test footage was all CGI, and not cinema quality CGI

Finally saw it last night and overall I really liked it. The fourth wall breaking stuff was well handled in my opinion in that it references the audience and also past failures by people involved in the making of this film but it didn't get to the point where it took me out of the film or annoyed me. I will say probably the weakest aspect is the actual plot as its really just so-so but it's saved by good character moments constantly. Loved Colossus in this and Warhead was good too. The villain wasn't bad but a stereotypical bad guy who seemed to lack a real motivation. Overall though definitely worth watching and I look forward to a sequel.

There's a petition going around to get Deadpool(not Ryan Reynolds) to host SNL

Glad the SNL idea was turned down. The show isn't very funny most of the time and a censored version of the character wouldn't work very well.

Though... some of the CGI in the concept work was of the same quality of the CGI in this film. Mostly cuz... smallish budget.

I read bluetoast's original comment like he thought that most or all of the test footage could have been used in the film. Some of the stuff with the cars was serviceable, anything with DP or the bad guys was subpar and would've stood out in the film. The stuff with DP on the bridge and in the car was re-created in the film with real actors.

Yeah I hadn't seen the footage in a while, but remembered the basic gist of the sequence being the same in the movie. I assumed due to the low budget that they may have used some of that.

Loved it. Not groundbreaking, but succeeded on pretty much every level in terms of action, violence, nudity, humor... yeah. Great flick. Little by-the-numbers in terms of plot but otherwise awesome. 4/5

Deadpool: 9 surprising things we learnt
some I already knew and others... I didn't. Nothing earth shattering... but neat facts.

Best title sequence of the past few years?!
So many good jokes. Blade 2 and not Blade trinity, studio being cheap with their X-Men cameos

Loved this movie. Entertainment value was off the charts. A solid 4 probably should have gone 4.5. great chemistry between Reynolds and Baccarin. Funny, I found better onscreen chemistry between he and Baccarin than with Lively in Green Lantern.

Liked it. Didn't love it. It was a little too jokey and self-aware for my taste. Didn't really care about the story since they didn't seem to care much about it either. Was pretty funny though and thought Reynolds was great in it. 3.5/5

So now the pressure is squarely on WB and DC. When lower tier Marvel characters like Ant-Man and Deadpool can kill it creatively and financially, Superman v Batman had better perform. And not just at the BO, because it's a given it will make money. But it needs to be GOOD... not a disappointment like Superman Returns, or divisive like Man of Steel. Fans really need to respond to it, or DC's plans for a cinematic universe are in trouble.

For a movie that predominantly traffics in anarchic, detached, postmodern irony, I almost got whiplash from the tonal shifts during the origins stuff. I'm going to have nightmares for weeks from those torture scenes.
