Cena isn’t a bad actor really. I mean for what he stars in at least. I liked him in Bumblebee, and I haven’t seen it but Blockers looked like an alright enough comedy.

Dude. It’s a Fast movie. They’re not expecting Cena to be some kind of thespian.

re: F9: The Fast Saga (Fast & Furious 9) (2021, D: Lin)

The official synopsis for F9:

Vin Diesel’s Dom Toretto is leading a quiet life off the grid with Letty and his son, little Brian, but they know that danger always lurks just over their peaceful horizon. This time, that threat will force Dom to confront the sins of his past if he’s going to save those he loves most. His crew joins together to stop a world-shattering plot led by the most skilled assassin and high-performance driver they’ve ever encountered: a man who also happens to be Dom’s forsaken brother, Jakob (John Cena). F9 sees the return of Justin Lin as director, who helmed the third, fourth, fifth and sixth chapters of the series when it transformed into a global blockbuster. The action hurtles around the globe—from London to Tokyo, from Central America to Edinburgh, and from a secret bunker in Azerbaijan to the teeming streets of Tblisi. Along the way, old friends will be resurrected, old foes will return, history will be rewritten, and the true meaning of family will be tested like never before.

I’m not ashamed to admit I enjoy these for the ridiculous over-the-top action. Although, I do find it funny that Dom spent 8 movies spouting off about the importance of family only to find out he has a brother he hates and has never mentioned before.

While not the villain didn't we just get a cliffs notes version of that plot in Hobbs and Shaw with Hobbs and his brother that he never spoke about before?

Also says world premiere of F9 trailer...
Also NBC...

Agree, I feel the same. These are by the very definition pop corn films. "Fast Five" and "Fast & Furious 6" are my favorite and the very best in the series (IMO). Even Time Magazine named both on their year end 10 best lists when they were released. Someone here on DVDTalk once joked that these movies are so over the top, one will soon take place in space.

The special aired as a live stream earlier today on Facebook and YouTube. The concert ran almost 2 hours, so it's being cut down to just 1 hour.

As dex said they can both be watched on YouTube on the Fast saga channel.

And the writer says he’s open to it.

So if they plan to stick with the April 2021 release for Fast 10 and the 20th anniversary, they will probably have to go into production sometime this summer. Johnson is also shooting Black Adam this summer, so we'll see if they can squeeze in Hobbs or not.

re: F9: The Fast Saga (Fast & Furious 9) (2021, D: Lin)

The first 3 films will probably always be the highest of the entire franchise; first one especially. 4 was okay... but from 5 the entire franchise has just continued down the road of completely nonsense off-the-rails action that just comes off terribly. I continue to watch because I enjoy the characters and the action is okay... but I'd very much so prefer they go back to a more grounded street racing side of things. I know that will never happen though. Unfortunately the Need for Speed movie bombed hard cause that kind of had a chance of doing what I'd like to see this franchise get back to.

So how is Han back from the dead?

1) That explosion wasn't as bad as it looked?
2) He got out of the car before it exploded?
3) He has an identical twin who either appears in this movie, or who died in Tokyo Drift?
4) His death was faked, and the accident/assassination was staged?
5) Magic?

re: F9: The Fast Saga (Fast & Furious 9) (2021, D: Lin)

This series is just ridiculous.
Isn't this the 2nd character that died and came back to life?

So Walkers wife is in this one? I guess hubby is back home taking care of the kids?

In this universe, cars just go anywhere/everywhere. In space next and then they'll have them driving at the bottom of the ocean.

Cena is perfect for this movie. He can't act just like the rest of the cast.

Besides the first movie, I loved F5 and bringing back Han is a win for me no matter how illogical it is. I watched every single F&F movies so I’m in for the 9th one. I have yet to watch Hobbs and Shaw.

I've always enjoyed how the Furious franchise takes giant leaps in logic with a simple hand-wave line of dialogue. Regardless of how Han is back, I imagine it'll be both preposterous in our reality and completely acceptable within the movie's version of reality. Hopefully Diesel has an amped up combine on his farm.

re: F9: The Fast Saga (Fast & Furious 9) (2021, D: Lin)

One pundit I watch had a few problems with the trailer, but then again he emphasized he hasn't seen the movie, so maybe the context will work better when he sees it.

Dom and Jakob being long lost brothers. He thinks having Diesel and Cena as brothers doesn't work for him

The over the top defying gravity stuff like Dom's car swinging from a vine or the Jet picking up the car with a magnet

and finally he was disappointed the trailer gave away the Han reveal. He did say that if Han has a big part in the movie, it would probably be too difficult to conceal that in the marketing.

Not only that, but the likelihood Gisele could have survived that fall when the plane was in the air is practically zero.

Considering the movie series we’re talking about, I’d say the odds of surviving go up to about 60%.

Yeah, the physics of these movies is... flexible... to say the least.

Well Han died in a fiery car crash, and we had his funeral. If Gadot wants to do the next movie I would say the chance of her survival is 100%.
