You felt the prequels were all better than The Force Awakens and Rogue One?

Sir, please explain yourself!

Didn't see Rogue One yet, hope to love it. Force Awakens and the prequels sucked.

All right, fair enough. I guess as a defender of The Phantom Menace, I'm not in a position to criticize anyone's rankings.

Only a casual Star Wars fan and don't think of any of the movies as particularly amazing, but for me -

A New Hope
Empire Strikes Back
Force Awakens
Return of the Jedi
Rogue One
Attack of the Clones
Revenge of the Sith
The Phantom Menace

Re: Rank the 8 live action Star Wars films.

1. Star Wars/Empire (Impossible for me to rank one over the other.)
3. Rogue One
4. Return of the Jedi (If not for the brother/sister bullshit and Han becoming a weenie, it would possibly tie with Rogue One for me...but I haven't seen it in awhile.)

5. Force Awakens (As I stated in the other thread, this one won't be defended as much once better Star Wars films come out. Looks great but the story is as bad as the prequels.)

6. Phantom Menace/Attack Of The Clones/Revenge Of The Sith (They are all equally horrible and I personally act like they do not exist.)

1) The Empire Strikes Back
2) Return of the Jedi
3) A New Hope
4) The Force Awakens
5) Revenge of the Sith
6) The Phantom Menace
7) Attack of the Clones

ROTJ is ahead of A New Hope, only because of the final duel between Luke and Vader.

Phantom Menace is ahead of AOTC because of Liam Neeson, and Darth Maul being a decent Sith.

The Force Awakens was tough to put ahead of ROTS because the "Order 66" montage had some great music to go with it. TFA felt more like it belonged in the SW universe though, with the creature designs and practical effects. And Kylo Ren was a much better Sith than Emo Anakin and Palpatine.

Re: Rank the 8 live action Star Wars films.

I flip flop on my first two all the time. Jedi drops down despite the Luke/Vader confrontation as most were just going through the motions acting wise and of course...ewoks. The prequels to me are just a few interesting ideas and scenes scattered over 3 unnecessary movies. Force Awakens reminded of all that was good with Star Wars and Rogue One is ranked so high as it's the only film where the war part really feels like that and that it also makes the beginning of ANH feel so different now.

Empire
A New Hope
Rogue One
Force Awakens
Return of the Jedi
Revenge of the Sith
Phantom Menace
Attack of the Clones

Also, Phantom Menace has the best music of the series (Duel of Fates), best lightsaber battle of the series by far, and maybe the best costume and set/art design and location shooting of the series, IMO.

I could almost buy in to that logic. Almost. The Gungans weren't the problem, just one particular Gungan. He who shall not be named.

That was the major problem. What should have been at least one whole movie (if not a driving storyline through the trilogy) was reduced to a montage.

Re: Rank the 8 live action Star Wars films.

Haven't seen Rogue One yet, but otherwise:

1. Empire
2. Star Wars
3. Jedi
4. Force Awakens
5. Phantom Menace
6. Revenge of the Sith
7. Attack of the Clones

Empire and Star Wars are so far beyond the rest that I can't fathom anyone putting any of the others in the top two slots.

I have a hard time deciding between Jedi and TFA. Ask me tomorrow and they might be flip-flopped. For today, nostalgia wins out. If eps. 8 & 9 are good, TFA will probably rise by association.

The prequels are all pretty dire, but I can at least stomach Phantom Menace. The other two are borderline unwatchable. In fact, I don't think I've even made it all the way through Clones or Sith since seeing them in theaters.
