Re: Terminator 2 3D (2016)

I post this video in another T2 thread a while back, but I am excited for sure with the 3d release. If the conversion is good I will be seeing it multiple times.

I don't really care about the 3D but if this ever happens I'd love to see T2 on the big screen.

The screens I saw it on in 1991 weren't very big.

Saw T2 in a theater with Cinema Digital Sound. Damn, that was awesome.

Re: Terminator 2 3D (2016)

Looking forward to this. I was too young to see T2 in theaters (Starship Troopers 1997 was my first R-rated theater experience).

Bring back the Die Hard and Lethal Weapon movies and it's like my childhood movies are all back. Robocop. Bad Boys. The Rock. Damn I miss that era of action films.

Yeah I'd check this out on the big screen.... my first R rated film in theaters was Last of the Mohicans. But I'm also looking forward to the definitive blu-ray release...finally! (and hopefully Abyss and True Lies eventually)

Is there an actual 3D trailer available to watch anywhere?

Re: Terminator 2 3D (2016)

Not yet, this was posted on facebook. It's nothing that hasn't been seen for a 26 year old movie. But its a pretty well done trailer.

Re: Terminator 2 3D (2016)

Just the fresh transfer (4K?) and inevitable blu-ray release alone is reason to be excited. Someone commented about a shot with some CG 'fixing' of a previous error (the truck's windows when it crashes)....no doubt they also replaced the stunt man's face in some shots as well.

Re: Terminator 2 3D (2016)

I can't say I feel the need to see this in 3-D, but one of my seminal filmgoing experiences was seeing this on the big screen when it opened. I was 9 years old and it blew me away.

When that T-800 foot came down on the skull and smashed it to pieces, I jumped 10 feet.

So, yea, I might catch this just to relive part of that memory. Plus, the movie still rocks.

Now if they re-release it in 70mm.

They updated that trailer with clips of Cameron talking about it.

Re: Terminator 2 3D (2016)

I just want to see it on the big screen again. Haven't seen it there since it was released back in '91. I think I saw it 6 times in theater then.

I read that the blu-ray release will come with free copies of True Lies and The Abyss.

Any word yet which version of T2 is being released? The original theatrical or the better extended edition?

Bluelitespecial 07-01-17 10:38 PM

Re: Terminator 2 3D (2016)

Its the theatrical cut, but I do hope the extended edition will still be remastered for the eventual 4K/Bluray release this fall.

Same here. 3D is neat. T2 plays a big part in why I love movies. And I was too young to see it in theaters (I was 7-8 at the time). I just want to see this on the big screen. I'm gonna watch this a bunch of times.

Re: Terminator 2 3D (2016)

I found this story confirming some CGI changes for the rerelease. The winshield on the truck in the first truck chase, and putting Arnold's head on the stunt double. This little stuff doesnt bother me, less than two more weeks to go. Also I don't know if it was mentioned, but the rerelease is exclusive to AMC for the first week.

As long as the T-1000 doesn't shoot first, I'm okay.

I wonder if these alterations will be also on the new 4k UHD/new blu out in october?

Also the T-1000's nutsack is only really visible if the brightness is high enough

I never really noticed the nudity until that article pointed it out. I would say yes these alterations will be on the new disc coming out in October.
