Dunkirk (7/21/2017, Nolan) - News, Rumors, Etc.

Christopher Nolan’s Next Movie Coming in 2017
September 8, 2015 | 06:03PM PT
Dave McNary
Film Reporter @Variety_DMcNary

Warner Bros. will release an untitled Christopher Nolan movie on July 21, 2017.

It’s his first feature since “Interstellar,” which opened last November and scored worldwide grosses of $673 million, with Paramount handling the domestic release and Warners on the international rollout.

Warner Bros. has all rights on the new project but gave no details. The dating announcement was the first news of the project.

The studio handled all three films in Nolan’s Dark Knight series — “Batman Begins,” “The Dark Knight” and “The Dark Knight Rises” — along with his 2010 sci-fi hit “Inception.” The trilogy grossed $2.45 billion worldwide, while “Inception” took in over $800 million.

Nolan produces through his Syncopy label with spouse Emma Thomas. He directed and had screenwriting credits on the Dark Knight trilogy, “Inception,” “Interstellar” and his 2006 drama “The Prestige.”

Nolan came on to direct “Interstellar” in early 2013 and co-wrote the script with his brother Jonathan Nolan while producing the film with Thomas and Lynda Obst.

The Nolan movie is the fourth title to be dated for July 21, 2017, following Universal’s “Pitch Perfect 3,” EuropaCorp’s “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets” and an untitled Blue Sky animation project from Fox.

That article should be spoilered for giving away too much info about the film.

"Popular Director set to release another film in the future." Wonder how they scooped that story ahead of all other news outlets??

5/5

2 hours of exposition and another 45 minutes of stupidity all while Hans Zimmer's score that sounds like he has fallen asleep on his keyboard blares at ear bleeding levels.

I liked both Interstellar AND Hans Zimmer's score (have it on my iPod).

Yeah, I really enjoyed Interstellar despite it hitting a few rough patches.

Interstellar has its own thread, can we please stay on topic and discuss this new amazing project that Christopher Nolan will be bestowing upon us in two years.
I find the fact that Warner Brothers is releasing this and that he and his brother are collaborating on the screenplay to be fascinating.

This film is fantastic, and anybody who says otherwise didn't get it.

That flow chart is a little bit too close to home.

Top secret, two years in advance announcement. Are we ever fucking gonna get a small scale Memento like movie again?

He will probably find a concept that sounds really cool and then will butcher it with endless exposition, ridiculous and convoluted plotting, an absurd ending and the emotional depth of a corpse. It will be a horrible film that Nolan fans will hail as brilliant and original and "mind blowing" and make a lot of money at the box office despite being an incredibly dumb polished turd of a film. I vow to not be sucked in this time by the excellent trailer that will be made which will make me think this Nolan shitfest will somehow be different than his other unwatchable films.

All that and he's still made the best comic book films outside of Bryan Singer and Guillermo Del Toro.

I wish, it's IMO his best film.

Talk about damning with faint praise.
