SHEEP GAME: Summertime Fun Edition

Re: SHEEP GAME: Summertime Fun Edition
Grrr ... going against Jaws on these last two (and playing slams) pretty much tanks my chance of winning this game. I'm going to need a bigger boat

And cost yourself two big points?
I guess that does make a difference when you're actually in contention.

Re: SHEEP GAME: Summertime Fun Edition
Now, before I reveal some potentially controversial and hurtful rulings, I'd like to remind everyone these games are intended for fun.
Reverse Sheep questions are designed to force players to use out of the box thinking, sometimes that involves stretching the perimeters. If you do it just right, you'll be rewarded, but sometimes you can go too far and it'll backfire.
Without any further ado:

Patriot Games
Shannon Nutt -5
Part of the Jack Ryan series, considered a sequel.

Exorcist 3
AaronHernandez -5
It's got the number 3 in it's title.

Shaft
Sauce07 -5
Wait a minute, isn't this a re-boot? Well, not exactly. Samuel L Jackson plays the nephew of the original John Shaft, who also appears in the movie, thus making it a continuation of the original Shaft series, so I don't see a valid argument that Shaft 2000 isn't a sequel.

Star Wars The Phantom Menace
Cdollaz -5
Although most people said they didn't believe Phantom Menace to be a sequel, the more I thought about it, the harder it was to discount. It is part of the Star Wars film series, derived completely from Star Wars 1977, the fact that it takes place before the other movies in the series shouldn't matter.
No doubt this is a grey area, but I've decided to allow it.

Out of Sight
Wazootyman +9
Wazootyman's rational is that because Michael Keaton plays Ray Nicollette in both Out of Sight and Jackie Brown, Out of Sight should be considered a sequel to Jackie Brown. Interesting thinking, but hard to support in the way we think of sequels/film series. The cross-over of a single character is interesting, but it doesn't make a sequel the way Shaft or Phantom Menace do.
If Out of Sight focused on Ray, then yeah. But he appears in one scene. It's impressive Michael Keaton played the role in both movies but it's mostly an in-joke. Like the Dukes appearance in Coming to America, which is not a sequel to Trading Places.

No one said Kill Bill Vol 2? Crap. I had that and then changed it because I figured with SLJ, everyone's mind goes right to Tarantino. Maybe others had the same thought process I did and talked themselves out of it? Or maybe just plain forgot he was in it?

It's a pretty small cameo though. The dumb part is I actually watched it for a challenge a few months ago and totally forgot about it.

Re: SHEEP GAME: Summertime Fun Edition

And I VEHEMENTLY disagree with Crocker's ruling on Phantom Menace. It's not a sequel to anything by the definition of a sequel. We all knew he was in it and we all stayed away from that choice simply because we didn't think it was a sequel. I propose a vote on that one.
