If you are unaware of this reality, you are probably better off for it, but it is nevertheless true.

I like Tom Cruise alot. He acted in one of my top 5 favorite movies of all time -- Top Gun. Maverick is still one of the coolest characters to grace the silver screen. His ability to not age somehow is baffling.

And the fact that you're not afraid to do that speaks volumes about Cruise. He seems approachable, which you can't say about most A-list actors.

Three pages in, and no one's mentioned Losin' It, the movie where he plays a 50s high school kid who hooks up with Shelley Long while on a trip to Tijuana?
Losin' It and Last American Virgin (not featuring Cruise) are my two favorite Porky's-inspired teen sex comedies from the 80s. Its got a pretty strong cast. In addition to Cruise and Long, you also have John Stockwell and Jackie Earle Haley, and the only screen appearance of the raunchy piano playing comedian John "Dr. Dirty" Valby. It was directed by Curtis Hanson, later known for The Hand That Rocks the Cradle, Bad Influence, Wonder Boys, and of course L.A. Confidential (the TRUE best picture of 1997 in my book).

I still think him and Ben Stiller as THE HARDY BOYS is a heck of an idea for a movie, and am sad it never happened.

He was on the Daily Show Tuesday. He is extremely guarded while trying to seem relaxed.
He also laughed in a loud & creepy way at EVERYTHING Jon Stewart said. The exact unsettling laugh every time. He doesn't seem like a real person at all, more like an empty vessel with no personality of his own. A very odd bird indeed.

About the only thing I miss from no longer living on the east coast is not going to see John Valby play at The Chance in Poughkeepsie NY every couple of months.

I enjoy his many of his films. Risky Business, Edge of Tomorrow, Collateral, Top Gun, Mission Impossible, and many other.
This guy does a great Tom Cruise impersonation.
"Not Tom Cruise" (there's more on his youtube channel).

Re: The Tom Cruise Appreciation Thread
One of my co-workers used to interview celebs on the entertainment junket circuit and told us a story about one with Tom Cruise. His wife was in the room during the interview, pregnant with their first child. This came up in the interview for some reason, and Cruise stopped the discussion, got up and went over to congratulate her and talk to her for a few minutes about the pregnancy. If you have don't know how these junkets work, they are on a tight tight schedule (like 3-4 minutes per interview sometimes) but Cruise didn't care about that.
Then a few months later, my co-worker talked to him again on a red carpet and the first thing Cruise said was "how is your wife doing?"
Stories like that coupled with the fact that I simply enjoy pretty much every single thing he's ever done on film make me a Tom Cruise fan.
