Yeah, there was a rumor going around that a leaked trading card reveals this actor is actually in the film.

I also wonder if it could be a recording of the Emperor, like in the recent video game or like Jor-El in Superman.

If you've read Dark Empire,
Spoiler:
the Sheev clones in that artwork could very conceivably be played by someone who looks like Matt Smith with a buzz cut

The Knights of Ren just have clubs and axes. Seems like you could take them out with just a blaster.

Unless they're very fast or have magnetic shielding like the Praetorian Guards.

Praetorian Guards were taken out easy too.

So were stormtroopers, despite Kenobi's claims about their accuracy in battle. It's almost like these movies aren't very consistent.

The Praetorian Guards lasted longer than those three Jedi Palpatine took down in two seconds.

I remember that rumored Last Jedi scene about the Knights of Ren and Kylo Ren going to the island to fight Luke and Rey.

I guess Kylo will send the KoR to capture/kill Rey, but she takes them down with help from Poe and Finn.

Even if a small percentage is true, this is more than enough to keep me away from theaters.

That’s from Cosmic Book News. It’s absolutely made up bullshit.

and if you’ve ever been to a test screening, you have to sign an NDA.

I’ve been to several and signed an NDA. Doesn’t stop shit when people want to talk about it.

I don’t know anything about Cosmic News, so I don’t know their record.

fuck trilogy bullshit.

Do it right. Episode 9... and then finish with Episode 10.... EPISODE X. Seems like too much to cram and do in a 2.5 hours timespan.

I’d love to see another one with these characters, but if they didn’t “end” with this one, the marketing for Ep X would have to be something like “see how it all ends...and we mean it this time.”

I saw a video that gave details of the supposed “leaked early reaction”. It sounds like total bullshit to me. I don’t have a lot of confidence in this film but I don’t think they’d do anything that stupid.

30 years from now I cannot wait to read the real story behind the making of this sequel trilogy.

Don't ever believe "Secret test screenings" leaks. It's all bullshit click bait.

The guy who runs Cosmic Book News is a dick on social media as well.

If only VIII hadn't been a complete waste of time where nothing happened, I would disagree with you. Or "Episode IX Part One" and "Episode IX Part Two" and pretend they're actually Episode VIII and Episode IX and just ignore TLJ entirely. But that's about as likely as mynocks flying out of my butt.

I watched TFA and TLJ back to back the other day, and it's a weird experience.

I mean, TFA is just remake of the original '77 Star Wars. And then TLJ picks up right where it left off, and Luke refuses to train Rey, the Resistance gets chased around for two hours... and that's about it. Even though the Resistance got decimated and Kylo killed Snoke, the whole thing just felt hollow and pointless, like they were just going through the motions. It just feels like nothing happened. It's like TPM in that regard.

I just don't know what the hell TROS can do other than put this trilogy out its misery as painlessly as possible. And it absolutely breaks my heart to have to feel this way.

And, regarding test screenings, I would be surprised if Disney would even bother test screening this movie. Aside from the all of the security and secrecy around the Star Wars franchise.

I remember reading that Avengers Endgame was test-screened, which kind of surprised me, but I don't if TFA or TLJ were test-screened. Seems like I read an interview a while back where Rian Johnson or someone said they don't test screen Star Wars because of the secrecy. But I suppose, after the reception TLJ and SOLO got, they might rethink that.

even TLJ apologists must admit that it didn't advanced the narrative enough if the plan was to wrap things up in 3 movies.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (12/20/19, W/D: J.J. Abrams)

I honestly don’t think Disney really cares about Episode 9 at this point (and I don’t mean it ‘literally’). Of course they want big box office for the movie, but I think their focus is on Disney+ and the reception to shows like The Mandallorian. I guess what I’m saying is they care more if The Mandallorian succeeds than Episode 9 does. Episode 9 is the end of that story so the reception has no effect on a future movie. If The Mandallorian becomes a hit, then I could see them focusing on the small screen rather then the big screen for the future of the franchise.

How much did ESB "advance the narrative"? Luke gets incomplete training from Yoda, Han & Leia get chased around for two hours... and that's about it. Star Wars has never been "the trilogy is telling one big story split into 3 equal parts." They're, literally, episodic.

Woah, I’m going to take issue with this assessment as I respectfully disagree. ESB CHANGED the narrative that created a whole new storyline in that Vader was Luke’s father. The whole point of ESB is Vader’s obsession with finding his ‘son’ that he thought he never had which opened up so many possible storylines. Whether you like ROTJ and the PT, ESB set those movies up with its narrative. TLJ ends much differently in that it sort of feels like the story is closed where ESB leaves off to so many storylines that come before and after.

So we are back to not being able to discuss the film that this film is a sequel to?

You can still talk about it, just in another thread. I just did so.
