This guy is also claiming that the trilogy format is over and the story will just continue with episodes ala Marvel.
Spoiler:
Leia being "recast" might mean an actress body w/ a CGI face?

I don't get all worked up over dead people being CGI'd into movies. I like it, it's cool. But if they did something like that, or anything really to bring Leia physically into this one, I'd be annoyed.

I looooove TLJ, but it has a number of missteps, and keeping Leia alive at the end was one of them. Really backs Ep IX into a shitty corner.

As unceremonious as it would be, I think they should just address it somehow in the crawl and move the story along.

It almost sounds like...

they're doing some kind of Trump allegory, where, even though Kylo Ren is an unstable authoritarian bastard, but my space 401k is doing great, so I don't give a shit.

And, as far as the "SJW" component goes...
Spoiler:
Reylo is a thing? She's going to fall in love with the abusive prick who tortured her, killed one friend, and nearly killed another? Kathleen Kennedy says "You thought Twilight was creepy and stupid? Hold my beer...

I would be inclined to not believe it, but after the TLJ shitshow, I'm expecting the worst. No wonder Mark Hamill said Fuck it, I'm out.

(I didn't watch the video, but I assume this is the same stuff that popped up on 4chan and reddit a couple of days ago.)

Yes, that is the exact source that everyone is commenting about. Now the source is saying these are early storyboards so obviously things will change, but I think you have to look at the big picture plot points. Honestly, this storyline sounds REALLY stupid as it kind of reaffirms that the biggest flaw of this Trilogy will essentially be the story and narrative. The Prequels had execution problems in terms of writing/directing, but I still stand by that the story and narrative by Lucas was very interesting and it atleast jived with the OT is a big story sense.

Guys, it’s Abrams. For all we know he’s the one who leaked it to keep people busy because he loves teases and mysteries.

After Rogue One came out and Carrie Fisher died, someone at Disney/Lucasfilm specifically said they that CGI Leia would not appear in Ep IX.

A few reshoots would have solved all their problems, but I guess we're getting a ringer going forward. It'll make it easier for Han to miraculously survive his "injuries" from TFA and for Luke to continually pop up as a Force ghost too.

Or maybe they could use the Infinity Gauntlet and fold the SW in with the Marvel universe...

I just can’t hate the idea of recasting Leia. Carrie is absolutely attached to the role forever but the character is so iconic that I feel that killing her offscreen in between movies would also be a disservice.

Finding somebody that mostly resembled her but more importantly has her sass level to close out the story wouldn’t bother me.

the only recast of Leia I'd accept is Joely Fisher, her sister, because I think it would be a nice tribute for a family member to fulfill Carrie's most iconic role's character arc.

No surprise here. With two of the big three out of the picture and Luke only appearing from the afterlife, having
Spoiler:
Billy Dee pop up is the least they can do to restore some goodwill with the OT fans. I'd figured they were waiting until after the character appeared in Solo before reintroducing Lando into the main saga.
While this is nice to read, my anticipation for IX is almost non-existent after sitting through TLJ. I never thought I'd feel that way about a new Star Wars movie... but here we are.

it's because they are running out of original characters to kill.

RIP

The way the sequel trilogy has been going, that character will probably die from autoerotic asphyxiation with a lightsaber up the ass.

Billy D is 81... he won't be doing shit but shuffling or sitting and spitting out an inspirational or rhetorical line. I see no need to shoe-horn in these characters (especially after RJ told us, repeatedly, to "let the past die").

Rian Johnson is a fucking no-talent hack.

The only thing that needs to die is TLJ. Throw it down the memory hole and make a new Episode VIII.

I doubt I will ever understand why they didnt kill off Leia when she did the space walk... I really think they could have edited the film order in a way that that happened mid movie and not in the early part and avoiding this issue. Fuck Rian Johnson.

Personally, in Last Jedi when Leia talked about their allies in another part of the galaxy, i imagined it could be General Lando with a fleet.

She'll end up playing Laura Dern's daughter. Which means she'll die as well.

She's a little young, but she could be Rey's mom.

Loved her since Felicity. Loved her in MI:III. Loved her in The Americans. I always thought she'd have made a better Lois in Superman Returns that Bosworth.
Bring it.

I’m interested.
I remember her being on Jimmy Kimmel when TFA came out, and she said she always wanted to be in a SW movie (she is around that age when the OT came out, so she grew up with them), and she is good friends with JJ Abrams. I assume The Americans conflicted with her schedule a few years ago, so that is probably why she is in Episode 9 instead.
