Old Henry (2021) W/D: Ponciroli S: Tim Blake Nelson, Stephen Dorff

An action western about a farmer who takes in an injured man with a satchel of cash. When a posse comes for the money, he must decide who to trust. Defending a siege, he reveals a gunslinging talent calling his true identity into question.
If you like Westerns, this is an excellent one.

94% on RT. I watched it on Amazon Prime last night, currently only $1 to rent

Surprised there wasn’t a thread on this already. I have this in my 10-20 range of best films from 2021.

There isn’t a lot going on here but it’s well executed.

I saw this a while ago. It is definitely worth checking out… and best to go in as cold as possible.

It’s available on Showtime currently as well.

Besides a western setting, those are completely different films that aren't even suitable for comparison.

I think the reveal was unnecessary, the movie didn't profit from it. It was good enough without it. Tim Blake Nelson gave a really good performance. He's a really fine actor.
Furthermore I'm greatful for every western which isn't shitty.

That's nice, but I just did. People compare things on a daily basis that are far less "suitable for comparison".

They're two western films that came out in the same year. That's good enough for me to mention which I preferred.
You don't have to like it. Your determination of what is or isn't suitable to be compared doesn't matter to me.

One could say a comparison helps with finding differences.

what a great fucking movie. had no idea it would go even remotely the way it went and that twist was just an amazing reveal and cemented an already outstanding movie. great performances all around, but Tim Blake Nelson was just amazing. if you like a good slow burn and short western that leads to something incredible, this is it.
