Problem is as Ewan McGregor ages it becomes harder to explain why Obi Wan's skills are so diminished in ANH. It is understandable if he is out of practice and older because he is hiding the fact he is a Jedi. If he has some adventure in his 20 year absence it would seem out of place.

Not really. He's an old man. He's not decrepit. He can still engage in a light saber duel despite being out of practice. There are LOTS of loose ends in the Original Trilogy, but that's not really one of them.

Do they really have to explain why he isnt' doing flips in Ep4? People just can't accept the real life facts that Alec and David Prowse weren't super stunt men, it was filmed in a time that stuff didn't happen & Alec wasn't able to do it.

That's the annoying part of super popular films, everything has to fit. Even Rogue One felt the need to show Red 5 getting killed to open the spot for Luke.

Not to mention the fact that the original Star Wars movie was a low-budget affair. It was made on an eleven million dollar budget. They got a lot of that $11M, but it's still easy to see that it's easily the "smallest" of the SW films. Even though the whole film only takes place on two planets (one barely seen) and the Death Star, it feels like more.

And it was also the first movie. It's only natural that the fights and effects are going to get more elaborate as the films that are made after get bigger.

I'm looking forward to this... after 30 years of not getting any Star Wars and then the lousy prequels, I'll take every stand-alone, trilogy, new idea, etc I can get.
That said, I do wish they'd forego a Han movie and give us some new characters or timelines... but I'll be there day 1 for this.
