Clint Eastwood turns 85 today (5/31/15), how much does he have left?

I think this is a question some have wondered. The guy turns 85 today. How much does he have left in the tank?

I know he has the Richard Jewell biopic in development as a director. But, once you reach his age, any day could be your last.

I've respected his work over the years as an actor and director and hope he manages to hang in there a few more years and then maybe quietly disappear into the sunset.

Really amazing that his career has been 60 years including the last 40+ as a director. He's one of the true Hollywood legends.

Weren't there all ready rumors that he doesn't do much on set and his recent films are basically ghost directed?

His mother lived a long time. She was at the Oscars with him the year he won for MILLION DOLLAR BABY and he was already in his 70s by then. She died the following year (2006) at the age of 97. So he's got longevity genes. That doesn't mean he'll keep directing, but he doesn't strike me as the kind of old guy who wants to go off and play golf in his declining years.

While his output lately is questionable in quality... I do hope he continues on a few more films.

How does he get insured before each film? I know Robert Altman had some difficulty with that. Is there a back-up director always attached?

Sidney Lumet had a back up guy on his last one.

Eastwood may be different than others due to his status with WB and whatnot.

Yeah, it's odd watching guys that were still relatively young and vital when we started watching movies in the 70's hit their 80's.

Eastwood is the consummate tough guy, and the idea of him getting old and frail seems impossible somehow. And yet, at 85 there's no way he's got the energy he did at 60, let alone 40.

At this point every project he does is just a bonus.

My older relatives are starting to fight health problems, it's starting to frighten me. You know, it's funny. When I was a teenager, everyone told me that I was supposed to think I was invincible. I didn't really, but like all young people, I probably took my youth for granted. Everyone told me I didn't understand mortality because I was too young. I said I did, indeed, I went out of my way to try to understand it and be different, to appreciate what I had. I guess I thought if I did, maybe I'd appreciate it more or understand it better. But of course I didn't. Wasted opportunities, worried about trivial teen angst.I guess youth really is wasted on the young. It seems like a lifetime ago. That or there are so many movies and stories out there that my view of what I should be was so distorted. I'm going to suck an exhaust pipe now.

Anyway, Eastwood? Don't know. Look at his antecedent, John Huston. He was directing films from a wheelchair. "Why'd you climb that mountain?" "Because it was there." For directors, I think it's just what they do. I imagine Eastwood will keep at it as long as he can; he doesn't show any sign of slowing down. What the oldest a filmmaker has ever been active? I know Borgnine as an actor worked into his 90s.

Snake, I may have told you this before, but Lindsay Lohan is six days older than you. (The Olsen Twins were born in June that year, less than a month before you.)

Perhaps it's because you have stated your age and birth date numerous times?

Well, if we look up the day Ernest Borgnine died, based on what you just told us, that is also the day you were born. It's fairly easy to extrapolate from there.

Apparently keeps track of actress's birthdates in relation to yours.

Amanda Bynes: April 3, 1986
Megan Fox: May 16, 1986
Shia Le Beouf: June 11, 1986
The Olsen Twins: June 13, 1986
Lindsay Lohan: July 2, 1986
Solid Snake: July 8, 1986

And my favorite, the reason I latched on to all these birthdates in the first place:

Aya Matsuura: June 25, 1986

(She's a pop singer who starred in YO YO GIRL COP in 2006. I have all of her albums.)

So you're in great company, Snake.

...which is total BS.

Clint's mother lived until 97. Anyone who watched the bonus materials on American Sniper knows he's still very active on his sets and still very cogent. Barring illness, I think Clint will direct well into his 90s.

Look at William Shatner - that guy is 84 and he's running around like he's still in his 60s.

Someone on set asked Clint how he still does it, and he said the secret was "don't let the 'old' in."

Yes, the thought haunts me every day. Though I doubt that I'll get killed by a coconut. Not many of those around here.
