Based on the trailer, not sure that's a big loss on New Mutants. Deadpool OTOH.

Yikes, 10 months? I assume they're done filming, and they're not going to pull a Justice League and redo the movie, so I guess they don't have that much faith in this as a franchise since it'll be almost another year before they even see how it does with the public.

It sounds like they want to make it scarier.

10 months ? Damnn maybe if Deadpool does well again, they might re shoot some cameos of him into this to make it more appealing

For New Mutants they should have treated it like those films that are released first in a manor where you can pay 14.99-20.99 to see it in HD on demand on Xfinity, Amazon Video, etc., and then the film gets released on blu/4K and finally it shows up on cable and the streaming sites like Netflix. Didn't films like The Final Girls go this route? I think New Mutants would have been a prime candidate for this type of staggered release and we would not have to wait until 2019 to see the film.

Maybe the budget on this was higher than one would think and it needs a theatrical release to realistically have a shot at making any money for Fox, but a 10 month delay tells me that Fox is not uber excited about the film (I like the cast of the film so I will be interested in seeing it when it finally sees the light of day).

Can't they just slap a generic horror film name on it and release it in October? Maybe Insidious 5 or something like that?

Yeah, it had to have been really bad for it to shift 10 months. I'm surprised it wasn't just dumped to October too as a Halloween release.

Yup. Market is more as a horror flick than mutant flick. Maybe open at $50 million or so and flizzle out at about $80 million like most popular horror flicks do at that time of year.
