I agree with the point you're making. I'd bring it up in Feeback and see what Admins say. I'd imagine there would need to be guidelines as to what and how it's posted.

I would so pay to see that. But Marvel is probably worried that the Avengers would start fucking the Defenders right away.

I'm really getting tired of explaining this to everybody: sex is fucking evil. You cannot make a film which depicts human sexuality, especially one with a rating below NC-17. Fucking children or even teenagers might see it, and they might have questions about sex. We do NOT want young people asking about sex. They will have questions about something healthy, universal, natural, and necessary for the survival of the species.

Violence is fine though. Violence never hurt anybody. Gun, good. Penis, bad.

I saw this in a packed theatre about a week ago.
It was quite possibly the most awkward screening ever. but at least it was a shared awkward, for all of us, as quoted by a local film critic. It opens with an extended single shot of mutual masturbation... all the way to completion.

As for the film itself... ehh. The story was kind of basic, the performances were kind of terrible, the narration was silly at times, but the sex scenes were well-shot and the music was pretty great.

If you're a Noé fan, you're going to see this anyway. Just don't expect this to be his masterpiece.

As this was my first Noé film (I know, I know...), I'm intrigued enough to see the rest of his filmography.

The 3D was unnecessary, other than a single shot that made everyone laugh, as intended, I'm sure.

If you do, start with the short film Carne and then watch I Stand Alone & Irreversible, those 3 are connected. Enter the Void can be watched on its own.

edit: found Carne on youtube. I have the Irreversible DVD (unwatched). Just need to find I Stand Alone somewhere.

As far as I know Carne is only available with English subs on import dvd's. It is available on youtube with only Spanish subs. I'm fluent in Spanish so that's where I saw it.

Still haven't seen it but Noe gets my interest. I really liked Enter The Void. Love Irreversible.

I was under the impression that the only (legit) DVD release Carne ever received was as an extra on the French 2-Disc Edition of Irreversible.

I believe it was also an extra on the French release of I Stand Alone.

I just saw this ... and I think Dan's review pretty much sums it up for me. I'd easily rate it last among Noe's features. I can appreciate what Noe was going for, and you certainly can't accuse him of playing it safe. Like Enter the Void, there are a number of moments where you can get carried along with the photography and music. But it's rough sledding whenever anyone is talking ... especially the insufferable main character Murphy (one RT reviewer states it well: Murphy is not a person you'd want to spend 1 minute with, let alone 134). I wish Noe would cast his movies better. Irreversible had a fantastic cast, but it was weak in Enter the Void and this one. But Enter the Void was a lot less dialog intensive than Love, so the cast short-comings didn't hurt things too much.

The 3D was silly. Like the whole movie was 3D just for 2 joke shots:

Dan, by all means check out the other 3 Noe features (if you haven't already). It just gets better when compared to Love. Though you probably know ... I Stand Alone and Irreversible can be gut-wrenchingly unpleasant (intentionally so).

I wish I Stand Alone would get a decent BD release. My non-anamorphic DVD looks like shit. I don't think there has even been a decent BD release of that one anywhere. I would import it if I could find one. It's my favorite movie of his.

I liked Irreversible but despise rape scenes so I just would never rewatch that movie often enough to have a reason to own it. Enter The Void was okay but I found it forgettable. I was interested in Love for the 3D aspect of it (recently got a new projector) but may skip it if it is as bad as all the reviews seem to indicate.

Yeah that Strand dvd of I Stand Alone is pretty crappy, excellent film though. It needs a Blu upgrade badly along with Irreversible.
