Good. DC has an annoying habit over the past decade of going with secondary villains in first movies -- Zod in Man of Steel, Scarecrow in Batman Begins, Parallax in Green Lantern, and no sign of Cheetah in Wonder Woman. Shoot, Justice League is getting freaking Steppenwolf. I get it, save the A-list baddie as a draw for the sequel, but given the uncertainty of DC sequels, I'm glad we're getting Manta right away.

Well, we did see Cheetah in the incredible animated feature. Why didn't we get a follow-up?

Remember, for Batman they wanted to distance themselves from the previous franchise and Scarecrow hadn't been done before and smart move saving The Joker for TDK. Oh, and technically Ras Al Ghul was the primary villain Batman Begins. Scarecrow was more or less his lackey.

Jason Momoa’s ‘Aquaman’ Gets Release Date From Warner Bros.
Film Reporter @Variety_DMcNary
DECEMBER 2, 2016 | 04:30PM PT

Warner Bros. has set an Oct. 5, 2018, release dates for Jason Momoa’s standalone tentpole “Aquaman” in 3D and Imax.

James Wan is directing the superhero film with Deborah Snyder, Zack Snyder and Rob Cowan producing. It’s the first title to land on that date.

Warner Bros. said last year that the character would be caught between a surface world constantly ravaging the sea and Atlanteans, who are ready to lash out in revolt. The film is based on characters appearing in comic books published by DC Entertainment.

Momoa was introduced as Aquaman in March in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” and will reprise that role in “Justice League.”

Amber Heard also stars in the film as Mera, the love interest of Aquaman, and is expected to return for “Aquaman.” “Justice League” is set to bow on Nov. 17, 2017, with Snyder directing from a script by Chris Terrio.

“Aquaman” is set to begin shooting in Australia next year.

I'm looking forward to it

Of course, I'm one of the very few DC fanboys on this forum

BTW, the working title is Ahab.

Yeah, I dont go to theaters anymore. I got sick of seeing phone lights and people texting. Plus all the asshats talking. Never understood why people go to the movies to do other shit instead of watch the fucking movie they just paid for.
I wait to BD or DD nowadays. Have for while now.

Why not just call them out?

If someone is fucking w/ my viewing. You bet your ass I'm calling them out. So unless I meet some huge motherfucker that towers... I ain't got much stopping me from calling them out in a theater.

Patrick Wilson To Play ‘Aquaman’s Evil Half-Brother ORM

EXCLUSIVE: Patrick Wilson has been set by Warner Bros and director James Wan to costar in Aquaman. Jason Momoa plays the title character, and Wilson will play the fish whisperer’s super-villain half brother ORM, also known as Ocean Master, in the DC film that Warner Bros will release October 5, 2018. The character has some of the sibling rivalry elements found in Loki. That is Thor’s half brother who has figured as the heavy in numerous Marvel films, in the form of Tom Hiddleston. ORM is at least as disagreeable and more powerful: in the comics, Aquaman’s human half-brother is a rival for the throne of Atlantis, and wreaks havoc on the high seas and beneath them when he doesn’t get his way.

I don't see Patrick Wilson as the villain type at all. Something about him. Too personable...

He worked so well in Watchmen.

A good actor can jump about in a variety of roles. He's a good actor. He'll do fine. He was a good baddie in A-Team.

Also... apparently he cameoed in BvS as the voice of the POTUS.

Huh? He was the baddie in A-Team? I saw it, liked it, but didn't remember. Need to revisit...

I like Wilson but he already played the POTUS in the Snyderverse, so I guess they gotta recast. Granted, it was only the voice and maybe the back of the head, but still.

EDIT - Fuck, what Snake said.

He's actually credited in the end credit scroll.

I keep seeing it as a voice cameo. I don't even remember when we get a shot of him in anywhere. I just remember the phone call.

Does that not make it a cameo?

TheMovieman 12-12-16 08:39 PM

Re: Aquaman (2018, D: James Wan), S: Momoa -- News and Rumor

Wasn't questioning it as a cameo, just making a comment; I was surprised he was credited for a small voice role while Jeffrey Dean Morgan was uncredited. Both obviously were doing solids for Snyder.

Re: Aquaman (2018, D: James Wan), S: Momoa -- News and Rumor

Ah.

Yeah. Snyder made them bigger. I like Wilson's work after Watchmen more than Morgan's.
