Dead before the opening credits

So last night I was watching Friday the 13th part 2 (I'd have watched the first one, but it's playing at a local theater next month...crossing my fingers for a 35mm pring). In the pre-credits sequence, Alice (Adrienne King) is killed. Sorry, spoiler alert. Anyway, Adrienne King is still listed in the opening credits. Pretty close to top billing, too.

What are some other movies where an actor or actress is billed in the opening credits even though their character is already dead (and will never be seen in the rest of the movie)?

The only other one I can think of at the moment is Michael Parks in From Dusk Till Dawn, but I'm sure there's tons more.

Shouldn't every answer be in spoilers or a warning in the threat title?

The title doesn't give the ENTIRE gist of what thread is about. But you're the genius who knows everything.

I like this typo. "Dead before the opening credits" could indeed be a threat!

Spoiler:
Josh Holloway's character
dies before the opening credits of Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol and his name is there.

My most recent example was when I watched Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb.

Spoiler:
Robin Williams
Spoiler:

Too soon?
Spoiler:

Oh, the character in the movie. Nevermind.
Spoiler:

Wait. Teddy Roosevelt was dead before the opening credit so that answer could still count!

Hostel: Part II's prologue is a direct reference to Friday the 13th: Part II with the murder of Jay Hernandez's character.

I personally hate both openings as it negates everything that occurred in the previous film.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt in "Halloween: H20"- his name appears onscreen after he's been killed.

Two people die before Scream 2's title card is shown.

The first M:I also had a cameo & death. I think he was unbilled though, IIRC.

Spoiler:
Emilio Estevez

Nope. The guest star dies immediately after their credit appears.

Re: Dead before the opening credits

A lot of you guys are missing the parameters of the assignment. See the original post. It's not just pre-credits death scenes; that happens all the time.

I was looking for other examples where the actor/actress whose character died pre-credits is listed in the opening credits, and never appears again the rest of the movie. So the For Your Eyes Only and Memento examples do not qualify. Also Scream, if Drew Barrymore is not listed in the opening credits (apparently she isn't...I don't know, haven't watched that in years).

The reason it's so unique is that it's odd to see the name of an actor in the opening credits even though their on-screen time is already over.

Re: Dead before the opening credits

Scream doesn't count because it doesn't have opening credits. Just a title card. The actual cast listing occurs during the end credits.

I'm going to disagree as most current day filmmaking places what is considered to be the opening credits at the end which was unlike the trend twenty-to-thirty years ago.

I would count the entire franchise (except for the first) as multiple people are murdered off before the title card is shown.

Memory is hazy, another one I haven't seen in years but didn't Sean Bean "die" during the intro sequence in Goldeneye?

But the only ones that count for this particular circumstance is if their names are listed in the opening credits.

Doesn't matter. He appears in the film afterwards, so this also doesn't count.
