Billy Eichner Joins Seth Rogen in 'Neighbors 2' (Exclusive)

Rogen, Zac Efron, Rose Byrne and Dave Franco are all returning for the comedy sequel.

Billy on the Street is coming to the neighborhood.

Comedian Billy Eichner, known for his hit series Billy on the Street and his role on Parks and Recreation, has joined sequel Neighbors 2, starring Seth Rogen, Zac Efron and Rose Byrne.

Chloe Grace Moretz also has joined the cast, along with Kiersey Clemons and Beanie Feldstein, as The Hollywood Reporter exclusively reported. The plot is being kept under wraps, but sources tell THR that this time there's a sorority involved. Dave Franco, Ike Barinholtz and Liz Cackowski are returning to reprise their roles from the hit original.

Nicholas Stoller is returning to direct the sequel based on a script by Andrew Jay Cohen, Brendan O’Brien, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. The film is currently shooting.

Rogen, Goldberg and James Weaver are producing Neighbors 2 through their Point Grey Pictures, along with Good Universe. Cohen and O’Brien will serve as executive producers alongside Good Universe’s Nathan Kahane and Joseph Drake.

Erik Baiers and Chloe Yellin will oversee the project for Universal, while Erin Westerman is overseeing on behalf of Good Universe, and Josh Fagen will oversee for Point Grey. Both Westerman and Fagen will co-produce.

Eichner is very busy these days: He's also booked a role in the Will Ferrell-Amy Poehler New Line comedy, previously called The House.

He currently stars on the Hulu series Difficult People, which premiered in August and has been renewed for a second season. He created and stars in Billy on the Street, a game show that premiered in 2011. Starting with the fourth season, which will premiere on Oct. 8, the show will air on truTV. He was also seen in the opening skit at the Emmys on Sunday.

“I could do a TED talk on how to throw a fake party,” says director Nicholas Stoller. “I’ve thrown at least 20 times more fake parties than real parties, and my real parties are so much worse.” Stoller had plenty of revelry to feign for this sequel to 2014’s Neighbors, which sees Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne reprising their roles as self-conscious thirtysomething couple Mac and Kelly Radner.

This time around, they are dealing with the sudden appearance of a sorority on their block — pledges include Chloë Grace Moretz and Selena Gomez — and the return of Zac Efron’s fraternity adversary, Teddy Sanders. “With the sorority girls, it’s like a glimpse into their daughter’s future, and it terrifies them,” Byrne says.

Among the barn burners created for the film are a disorienting hall-of-mirrors rave and a down-and-dirty Mad Max-inspired tailgate. “That one was both a lot of fun and a nightmare to shoot,” Rogen says. “Anytime I’m shirtless next to Zac Efron for really long periods, it even gets to me eventually.”

Neighbors 2 opens on May 20.
