Ha, I like all of those. Not the classiest of comedies, but I think they're all pretty funny.

Never understood the love for every Adam Sandler comedy, especially Happy Gilmore. Also any of those Broken Lizard movies.

Just about anything Judd Apatow-related gets my vote. The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Knocked Up, Funny People are all anti-comedies.

I gave Napoleon Dynamite another chance this year but still didn't get it.

Anything starring Melissa McCarthy or Rebel Wilson. I have mixed feelings on Apatow films too. I actually love The 40 Year Old Virgin and Forgetting Sarah Marshall but those are about all I like from him. Seth Rogen I also have mixed feelings on as an actor in general. Sometimes I think he's pretty great but other times I just find him annoying.

IMO, The Hangover, yes the first one. It's ok, but I didn't think it deserved anywhere near the praise that it got.

If Wes Anderson films count as comedies, then there are a few (post Royal Tenenbaums) that belong here IMO.

I didn't fully understand the good ratings for This Is The End or Neighbors, though I enjoyed The Interview. I also didn't get Get Him to the Greek, it had a couple funny scenes and was otherwise kind of a waste, and I loved Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding bored me to tears as well.

I really liked This Is The End. I thought it was funny due to all the main actors playing exagerrated versions of themselves and just because of how goofy it was. Just a really fun film to me. Neighbors wasn't terrible but was just sort of so-so. I personally don't really view Juno as a full on comedy. I mean there are some funny elements to it but its more of a dramedy in my opinion. I do tend to agree about Wes Anderson films too. Some of them are really great but often times I find that his films are a bit too quirky for their own good and I wind up not liking them because of that. Again though a lot of his films I don't really know if I'd view as true comedies but more films that have some comedic elements.

American Pie

I remember seeing this in the theater and it was so bad that having people laughing in the theater (which usually elevates a comedy) made no difference for me. For a "comedy" it wasn't just unfunny, it was mostly boring as only 1 out of the 4 main characters that the movie focused on seemed even marginally funny. The other 3 main characters were dull as dishwater.

(I didn't see any of the sequels, so their suckiness is not something polluting my brain.)

What people find funny is so subjective, that I know this thread will end up containing every comedy I love made in the past 20 years.

All I will say is that any comedy that has that no talent piece of shit Adam Sandler in it, is overrated.

True, it is very subjective. I hated The Heat and Big Fat Greek Wedding but both were extremely successful movies. I loved Hangover, I Love You Man, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Wedding Crashers, etc; but those seem to find equal amounts of hate around these parts.

I actually don't mind Adam Sandler movies as long as they try to make them funny. I feel like some of his movies, like Blended, don't even try to be funny anymore. I enjoy his older movies that seem to get a lot of hate (don't love them, but I do enjoy Happy Gilmore more than I care to admit).

I've seen a lot less modern comedies than I thought...but definitely Juno. A thousand times Juno.

I 100% agree with both Napoleon Dynamite and Step Brothers. Those movies are simply bad. Not quirky. Not quotable. Bad.

I hated Bridesmaids and was really surprised to like The Heat. In general, I'm not a fan of McCarthy and didn't like Identity Thief either.

The absolute poorest named movie I've ever seen. I love Apatow but this movie was brutal.
