Re: Night of the Comet--30 Years Later
I've meant to see this for a while as I've heard a lot of good things about it and it sounds like something I'd like as I enjoy older horror films. Might pick up the Scream Factory Blu-ray at some point.

Re: Night of the Comet--30 Years Later
Met her this weekend. One of my favorite actresses from the '80s, so I probably unleashed the full fury of my fanboy awkwardness on her. My brother was there and said he got douche chills watching me drone on like an "ass-kissing phony" and that even the assistant collecting her money was cringing. And here I was thinking it was just a nice little chat. No wonder I'm self-conscious.

Yeah, that probably took up 80% of the conversation. I even told her: "I'm kind of nervous because I left the house without wearing my BIM mark this morning."
I was curious if she'd attended the first public screening of 'The Apple' (where people were rumored to have thrown their souvenir soundtracks at the the screen). She would only say that it opened a big film festival in Montreal and that it got an "interesting" reaction from the audience. I told her that even if hipsters watch it ironically, at least people are still enjoying it 35 years later. I think I even complimented her lip-syncing skills. Eh, maybe I did come off like a kiss ass... but my enthusiasm was genuine.

Picked up the Scream Factory Blu-ray after hearing about the film for years and seeing this thread bumped recently. Watched it last night and this was a ton of fun. Both the lead girls were cute as hell and the story was fairly simplistic yet w really fun end of the world/zombie flick. I can't believe I waited so long to pick this up but definitely glad I did. Found the Kelly Maroney workout scene online, definitely very nice.

This just aired on the MGM HD channel last week and I went ahead and recorded it. Believe it or not, I have never seen this before. Not even on VHS.
I liked it. Fun low budget and really goofy 80's sci-fi/post apocalyptic/zombie movie with good music & score.
Catherine Mary Stewart and Kelli Maroney were babes back then.
Hard to believe that Stewart is pushing 60 now at 56. Makes me feel really old. I miss the 80's.
The HD transfer on MGM HD is decent. A lot of the shots were kind of fuzzy. But, the movie is 31 year old, so they did the best they could.

I have an HD cap of both MGM and SHO and can tell you the SHO version blows away the MGM version.
I actually prefer the SHO version to the Shout! Blu as well. I think they messed with it too much.
Kelli Maroney was hot but I preferred her look in 'Fast Times' a little more.

Just watched my Arrow Video copy. Fantastic film and what a trip seeing DTLA in 1984.
EDIT - what's funny is that most people, even some of the cast members have said that the film wasn't a "big success," etc. I looked it up and the film cost 700k and made 14.5 million in theaters. That's a success especially for a film released in 1984.

This was a staple on HBO back in the day. Surprised no one has tried a remake since zombies are so hot right now. Had a big crush on Catherine Mary Stewart

An 80's classic and Kelly Maroney was so hot. Picked up the Scream release the first time this went on sale during Shocktober.

Hard to believe I was only nine years old when this came out - I loved it and like many others....had a huge crush on the chicks.
Might have to pick this up on Blu.

Re: Night of the Comet--30 Years Later
Vague memories of seeing this as a kid when I was too young for that to be appropriate. Am I thinking o the right movie? When the comet passes by, people inside are safe, people halfway inside and outside turn into mutnats, and people outside turn to piles of red dust left in their sneakers. Man, that creeped my little kid self out!
