It's not white knighting, it's a theme. They also have a Pirates of the Caribbean screening where you have to dress like a pirate to attend.

"If the situation were reversed"... if the situation were reversed, and men had never been featured in a major franchise, big budget, A-level action/superhero movie, and were traditionally kept in subservient roles both in movies and in, oh I don't know, REAL LIFE... then yes, everyone would be cool with that too.

This is such a non-issue. Those little boys complaining about this all over the Internet KNOW why this is a big deal and a special thing for women. They're just being whiny dicks.

It was a two sided story. Not just one party was guilty. I agree that the MRA group started it but I think both sides made themselves look bad.

Looks like they've opened this up to a single screen in a few other cities now too. Good.
Can't believe dudes are complaining about this shit.
That Entourage comment is on point

I can't imagine a bigger group of pussies than a bunch of self-identified "Men's Rights Activists".

I refuse to support such a sexist movie by seeing it in the theater. I will wait until it comes to home video so I can have a lady friend come over and make a sandwich for me and give me a blowjob while I watch it.

No, this is shameful.

Since 1920, there have been about 130 superhero and comic book films with solo protagonists in the United States, both on the big and small screens. We’ve had trilogies for Blade, Captain America, Thor, and Iron Man, among countless others. The Hulk has had at least three different films so far, each with different actors, and Spider-Man is on his third franchise in a decade, with at least one sequel already guaranteed.

Do you know how many of those 130 films had female leads? Eight.
Hope these ladies have fun at the showing. They've more than earned the right for representation on the big screen. And the men who can't go will somehow survive.

I laughed at the Alamo reply, it was a funny. They should do a Men Only showing of the next Fifty Shades.

Yeah lets not kid ourselves. If a theatre chain announced that they were doing a men only screening of Batman, Iron Man or anything else feminists would be up in arms about it.

Now be that as it may, I really couldn't give a shit.

I wonder if there's a Lynda Carter cameo in the film at all. It would be sorta cool though DC hasn't done cameos before from former actors or actresses that I remember.

IIRC, Jenkins had wanted to get Lynda Carter involved, but timing issues prevented Carter from being available.

I'm guessing the timing issues had to do with her singing tours. Other than that I can't imagine what else she is doing...

Why? Both are great. Both are great for their time. One doesn't have to be better or worse than the other. Or am I not understanding your comment...

Lynda Carter also has a recurring guest role on the Supergirl TV show as the US President. She participated in a Supergirl promo for Wonder Woman that was posted a bit back in this thread:

I'm well aware of her recurring occasional Supergirl role. Unlike many here I've not stopped watching the show. However, she is not in all that many episodes. I'm guessing a combo of the two is what kept her from doing an appearance.

Lynda wasn't the original. There was that WW movie on ABC made a year prior to the series. It was a POS so it's a good thing most have forgotten about it.

True. But for most Lynda IS the original because of that...

Even Cathy Lee Crosby wasn't the first to don (a) WW uniform.

Bill Dozier, the guy who produced the '66 Batman TV show tried a pilot of WW that never got aired.
Someone else played Diana Prince as a mousy nebbish, but when she turned into WW it was Nova herself, Linda Harrison.

Agreed on every point. I don't give a shit when I think about it...but reverse the roles and it would #1 trending worldwide and the theater would have to issue an apology and somebody would be fired.

But anyway, this will probably turn and burn, so it's in-material.

Well then, why did you say you couldn't think of anything aside from signing engagements that could've interfered?

And it's not necessarily the volume of either signings or guest spots, but the specific scheduling of those spots, and how they fit into the principal photography and reshoots for the movie. If there's a scheduling conflict, it can't happen. It doesn't matter if she was free for months before or after; if she can't fit it into the actual film shoot, they can't do it.

But what would be the point of reversing the roles? Men don't really feel excluded or marginalized in the same way. Alamo Drafthouse has never done a "men only" screening because it wouldn't appeal to anyone who would otherwise not come to a screening of the movie.

For pretty much everyone who saw the show, Carter was the original.
