Great. More good news on the OOT Star Wars front. Just joyous. Anyway, I'm not hugely familiar with her work, I've been meaning to watch BSG for years, I like how self-deprecating she is on The Big Bang Theory and seems cool in interviews though.

Mainly legal reasons. DC would love to call Shazam Captain Marvel. But not enough to pay Marvel to use the name Captain Marvel.

I haven't seen her work at all beyond Riddick. But she was a pretty damn good character in that. Physically speaking, her body is boss for it. Face though a bit on the weak side. If they did though, I'd roll with it.

They didn't have to pay to use the name, they just couldn't call him Captain Marvel on covers, action figures or in movie titles.

Yvonne's definitely got the looks, but I'm not convinced the charisma required to be a lead is there. Maybe it's the soft tone of her voice, but as an actress she comes across as somewhat bland.

So then what would the point be to call him Captain Marvel?

They could call him Captain Marvel inside the comic book.

Calling a DC character Captain Marvel would just get general audince members confused on what company the character is from.

I'm fine with Katie as Ms Marvel. Would be funny if it was a success & DC still couldn't do crap with Wonder Woman.

I guess it helps that Ms Marvel has the newer full body suit they can use in the movie. Wonder Woman still just has the swimsuit as her regular outfit. Might be good for T&A but audience members will just find it stupid to fight crime in that outfit.

The thing is though that the general audience isn't reading comic books, and hell will freeze over before DC ever makes a Captain Marvel movie. So what the general audience may or may not think is moot.

Actually, I think Wonder Woman switched to a leather jacket and body suit for the comic as there was an agreement the bikini look was outdated.

After seeing Riddick today, there is no doubt in my mind that Ms. Sachoff could pull off a superheroine.

The leather jacket and pants was something J. Michael Stracynzski introduced when he was writing Wonder Woman back around 2009-2010. However, when DC did the New 52 reboot in 2011 she went back to the bikini.

Re: Katee Sackhoff teases Ms.Marvel role

I think we discussed it in the old Superman thread or maybe the WW tv show thread, but I like the pants & leather jacket look for WW with the red/yellow bustier. Kind of a mid point between the all leather look of X-men and the colorful suits of the Avengers.

She is kind of soft spoken, but that may have to do with covering up her accent. I think she could pull off a superhero, but I'm a huge Chuck fan.

I would dig a WW look if it was a mix of the general WW look but also some mix of some warrior aspect. There have been such versions in the comics but also some pics of women in such attire. Can't remember what that girl's name was but she was rocking it.

I always thought this was a great Wonder Woman cosplay.

That's the one. The 1st one, if slightly refined, would be freakin awesome for WW.

I though she kept the pants for the New 52?

Some of those are cool, but others look like they'd be better in a "Castlevania" film or "Thor" sequel.

Originally she was going to keep the pants in the New 52, but DC decided at the least minute to drop them.

That picture you have there was the original pre-release. The final version of the cover is this:

You mean Castlevania because of the whip? Its not actually a whip that Wonder Woman uses. Its a lasso. The Lasso of Truth.

By Thor I guess you mean because of the sword and shield warrior look? Thor is based on Norse mythology, and Wonder Woman is based on Greek mythology. They're both based on ancient polytheistic mythologies, so yeah they will appear to have some similarities.

I'm aware of that, but I mostly meant the "medieval leather" look with the Castlevania reference. Katie would also be a good choice for Sonia Belmont, if they ever put her back in the series' canon.

Re: Katee Sackhoff teases Ms.Marvel role

Why would that character being back in canon matter if it is a movie adaptation?
