Lego Batman Movie Cements Position As Best DC Movie of 2017 By Confirming Billy Dee Williams As Two-Face

Oh hell yes, Lego Batman Movie.

Ever since Two-Face started showing up in the Lego Batman Movie sets (and in the backgrounds of the trailers), eagle-eyed fans have noted that the minifigure bears some very distinct similarities to Billy Dee Williams’ portrayal of Harvey Dent in the 1989 Batman movie, before he was replaced by Tommy Lee Jones for future Bat-movies.

But now we know for sure that it’s a bit more than an homage to the Two-Face that might have been: Williams is actually voicing the character in the movie. The news was confirmed today by director Chris McKay on Twitter, after someone finally asked him about the character

It's going to be hilarious when this is better than BvS and Suicide Squad.

The 5 minutes of Batman that we got in the Lego Movie was better than those two.

That snippet where they reenact BvS as Joker explains to him that Superman isn't a bad guy and can't be his arch enemy is the funniest part of the trailer. Because it's true.

It's now up to 42 reviews with a 98% / 7.7 average, pretty impressive.

Tons of fun, well worth seeing. Lots of call backs to the previous films and other moments. Did not expect the villains who showed up at the end. Music was great too. If you enjoyed the Lego Movie, this surpasses it.

Just needed more JLA dance party

Edit to add, Bane's voice is like Tom Hardy in TDKR and got a good laugh from the audience.

Awesome. Our girls love The Lego Movie and are kind of aware of who Batman is, maybe a tiny awareness of Joker and Robin, that's it. Will they still enjoy?

I think so. Dont forget Barbara Gordon/Batgirl is also in it, and a great female lead. Both her and Robin get good introductions.

I fully expect to enjoy this more than any of the live action DCEU films.

Taking the family to this tonight. Looking forward to it. My son loved the Lego movie and my teenage daughter loves Michael Cera, so everyone's happy here.

Wait, your teenage daughter loves Michael Cera? Based on what? I didn't know he was all that popular.

Okay, Lego Batman was funny as Hell. Not all the jokes land, but a lot do. Lots of inside references and so many jokes at Batman's expense. The Robin stuff is hysterical and giving him Coke bottle eyeglasses that magnify his sad eyes is just too perfect. So, so many tie ins thanks to Warner's huge catalog as well.
It's not in any way deep or profound, but as far as a family movie you can take the kids to and still enjoy the heck out of, it's way up there.

BTW : My daughter came out and declared "I want to marry Michael Cera!".

Took the family today and we all loved it.

Couple spoilery things:

Spoiler:

The references to past Batman stuff was the best - like one of Joker's failed attempts was "that parade and that Prince song" and Batman had a music mix called "Let's Get Nuts".

I love Batman as a total self-centered asshole. And the Robin stuff was fantastic too - and made me think...wait, IS Batman Robin's dad? I know he's his "ward" in past stories but it totally makes sense that they'd explore that relationship.

I also like that they kept that Batman is a "master builder" from the first movie.

Just got back ... I haven't seen The Lego Movie yet, but this was great. I was exhausted and started nodding off around the last 30 minutes, but that was because of me, not the movie.

Tons of in-jokes, voice cameos, and just flat out references to the entire Bat-history ... Hint:it all happened in one universe. Mind blown.

Draven,
Spoiler:
they also mention the Joker's "two boats" plot. That took me a second, but I busted up. I was the only one in the theater who got it though.

One of my favorite lines/exchanges:

Dick: My name is Richard Grayson, but everyone calls me Dick.
Bruce: Kids can be cruel.

Will definitely be getting this on home video so I can pick out more of the Easter eggs and references!
