Iron Man 3 and TDKR are two of my favorite films from the past few years. Guess I better add them to my list.

I really liked The A-Team movie and thought it was a shit load of fun, and still disappointed it didn't make enough to make a sequel

I think it was very underrated. I certainly had no expectations going it but I thought it was entertaining as hell.

I still think that
"Because the plane exploded!"
"When?!"
"Recently!"
Is one of the funniest exchanges of recent years. But maybe I'm just easily amused.

Didn't they originally plan to make a single sequel, and find that the script grew so large that it wound up becoming two films?

Yes. The original film was entitled Paradox, but once the realization came that the film was too large in scope they decided to divide it in to two movies shot back-to-back.

This is the original "Number Two" script, which eventually evolved in to Paradox (although only a few scant things were used), which then evolved in to Back to the Future Parts II & III.

http://www.bttf.com/scripts/Number_Two.pdf

If you scroll down about half-way through the page here, the Paradox script is broken down:

I've yet to meet someone else who would call this one of their favorite movies of alltime.

That I didn't know until My Other Self's post but in the commentary for the first film they reference the fact that their original ending was meant as a joke and that Universal added the To Be Continued tagline.

I think a lot of people like The Fifth Element. It has 71% on RT, and it got some mentions in the thread about movies with unlimited replay value. However, I think I am one of the few people who thinks Chris Tucker is hilarious.

I also like The Shadow (1994).

I hate threads like this, cause they are never filled with movies no one likes. Someone likes them as seen by all the "Yea, I liked that too" crap.

Get off my lawn!

It was a fun little flick, but honestly: where could it really have gone in a sequel?

That's because most of them are beaten down and stoned to death for the betterment of the community, a la Shirley Jackson's "The Lottery".

We saw Mac and Me as kids and liked it. I haven't seen it in many many years though. My brother will probably still tell you that Mac and Me is better than ET though. My brother is batshit insane.

I'm not saying it would be very good but they could have easily come up with another mission for the A-Team to go on with little or no connection to the first movie other than that the A-Team is still on the run with government officials chasing them.

And I'll admit that I love The A-Team. It's one of my favorite action movies of recent years. I can't recall seeing another movie where the actors look like they're having as much fun as this one. It's contagious and I can't help but have fun watching them.

I also loved The A-Team for the reasons you mentioned.

Re: Movies you like that no one else seems to

I've seen nearly all the movies on that list that were made before 2000. I can't say any of them are very good, but there are a number of them that are entertaining and watchable. American Ninja is certainly better than 0%, but I just checked and it only has 5 reviews.

Seconded. I remember watching the much beloved White Lightning (Tarantino worships that movie) about 7 years ago and took a nap during it (Out of pure boredom)
On the other flipside, it's sequel (Gator) kept me wide awake all the way through (Jerry Reed was a fuckin' badass in that)

Another one I agree on. I actually watched Part 2 first and saw the original film MANY years later. That film certainly held up more than it's sequel did.

Re: Movies you like that no one else seems to

Seriously, how can you have Gator and American Ninja rated lower than Battlefield Earth and Batman & Robin? That's just lunacy.
