31 (2016, D: Rob Zombie)
Welcome to my next film. It is called 31, it is the story of five random people kidnapped on the five days leading up to Halloween and held hostage in a place called Murder World. While trapped inside this man-made Hell they must fight to survive playing the most violent game known to man… a game called 31.” And why he chose the crowd-source: “I’m crowd funding because I realize that it’s an incredible opportunity to engage the fans. They’ve always been the most important thing for me because, with metal and horror, the fans aren’t just fans – it’s their life, their lifestyle. They live and breathe it, as I do, and any way that you can bring the people that are as passionate about it as you are into the process is a win-win for everybody. Get on board! Get involved! Be part of this horrifying business! The world of horror needs you!” http://www.fanbacked.com/c/31-rob-zombie-film/ |

I'll wait for a trailer to decide if this is worth it but Zombie's movies are getting progressively worse. Halloween II was absolutely terrible...just awful, and Lords of Salem is damn near unwatchable.

Opportunity to engage the fans = no one else will fund this.
Gotta say, the idea for this sounds pretty lame. It's like The Running Man with clowns instead of cons. And Zombie left to his own devices usually means a ton of swearing, an overload of blood, and not much else worth watching. |
re: 31 (2016, D: Rob Zombie)
No. Granted, I fucking LOVE Lords of Salem, but Zombie is not a good filmmaker outside of that one.

At least we know this will be 100% his vision....probably a bad thing.

You would naturally think with the popularity of 'The Purge' series right now, studios would want something like this. You have to guess that what Zombie proposed didn't impress them. |

The unrated cut of Halloween II is awesome, it's almost a different movie. Yes, the bad acting by taylor scout-yadda yadda is still bad as well as others but it really was the cut that should have been released.
I don't know, while I hated Lords of Salem (but I will say that the ending was pretty damn creepy if you understood what the movie was about) - I don't think he's getting worse, I just feel he is doing what he wants. You have to remember though, I love house of 1000 corpses, even though it's a pretty bad film...it just oozes horror. Zombie is not everyone's cup of tea. |

As a horror and heavy metal fan, after seeing a couple of his movies, and hearing some of his music, I'd contribute to a fund to get him to stop making both.

Lords reminded me of Jodorowski, or Zombie aping Alejandro, which worked fine for what it ended up accomplishing - the novel paired up with the film is great, though. That's the full experience right there. |

The premise is extremely unoriginal. It's been done in the Cube movies, The Hole (2001), the Saw movies, House of 9, Haze (2005), Breathing Room, Exam, Nine Dead, The Killing Room, Hunger (2009), The Divide, Vile, etc., etc.

Looks good. Hope it turns out better than Lords of Salem.

Re: 31 (2016, D: Rob Zombie)
Doesnt look too bad, but labeling him a 'Horror Mastermind' is off the mark :)

House of 1000 Corpses was fun. The Devil's Rejects was pretty good. Halloween was pure shit. Halloween II was runny, nasty diarrhea. Lords of Salem I skipped as I did not want a repeat of the runny diarrhea. If this new one even attempts to be off-brand Pepto Bismol, I MAY give it a shot. Anything to ease the squirts.

Lords of Salem is his best film.

More like a "mastur-mind"

Re: 31 (2016, D: Rob Zombie)
I haven't seen Lords of Salem but I really liked the Devil's Rejects. And... I'm gonna say it, with no shame... but I really liked the first Halloween remake. I thought it was good and I appreciated that Zombie took a different take on the tale rather than giving a scene-for-scene remake that we see too often these days.
Still, I don't trust Zombie. I'll wait for a trailer/reviews on this, though yeah it does sound terrible. |
Re: 31 (2016, D: Rob Zombie)
I keep holding out hope that Zombie can make a good movie, as I haven't liked anything after House. He's got an impressive vision, but the white trash swearfests turn me off pretty quickly.
