Saw this trailer when I saw Indignation (both based on Philip Roth novels).

Didn't get great reviews but I found it moving. Ewan McGregor in particular gave a great performance.

This could have been PG-13 if it were not for Dakota Fanning's potty mouth lol.
Felt sorry for Ewan's character though in the beginning you might hate him since he seems he has the perfect life. A really sad movie overall.

I was looking forward to seeing this. It started off well enough, but I lost interest as it went on.

Me too, exactly. Saw a whole hour or so before I fast forwarded some. Too maudlin for own good. Even his last shot was trying too hard for uniqueness. It didn't work. As a whole, movie was uneven at best.

I was feeling the whole thing. You need to be prepared to watch a relatively slow and tragic story play out.
Was it signicantly condensed from the book? It felt a bit like a stage play with a finite amount of scenes. Very lite with the plotting.
