Scooby-Doo Reboot in the Works
Because everyone asked for it. Per Deadline:

The gestation period for reboots seems to be getting short. Warner Bros in the early stages of launching a new Scooby-Doo. The studio made a Raja Gosnell-directed live-action comedy out of the Hanna-Barbera cartoon that starred Freddie Prinze Jr, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Matthew Lillard, Linda Cardellini and Isla Fisher as the young sleuths. The film grossed $268 million worldwide, and Warner Bros and Gosnell made a sequel two years later. Now the studio is starting from scratch, setting Randall Green to craft a new adventure. There are no other attachments at the moment beyond original producer Charles Roven, who will produce this one for Atlas.

WB will do a dark and gritty take about a pup named Scooby-Doo who has his dad hit by a car sending him into a spiral of depression. He then ends up at the pound where a young boy named Shaggy adopts him. Later in life they meet three people who also lost loved ones in mysterious ways and together they band together to solve mysteries.

I probably didn't see the second one, but which one was Isla Fisher? Did she replace someone?

I remember hardly anything about the movie, but apparently she was in the first one and was credited as "Mary Jane", I don't remember who that is, but she's certainly not part of the gang so I'm not really sure why the article mentions her.

Ah, with that name, probably something to do with Shaggy. Yeah, the wording made it seem like she was part of the gang.

CGI has gotten better, so they could make Scooby a lot more lifelike if they decide to invest a few bucks...in the new Paddington film, for example, the bear looks really good.

I like the two with Sarah Michelle Gellar, Mr. Gellar, Linda Cardellini and Mathew Lillard. They were silly and fun little movies. I can't imagine a reboot being any better.

She's a blonde in the first movie, which is probably why you don't remember. Shaggy has the hots for her - get it? Shaggy falls in love with Mary Jane. Yes, this is the level of humor in the movie. Although, giving props where props are due, Matthew Lillard's Shaggy was pretty spot-on with the cartoon character.

The Scooby-Doo movies and cartoons get rebooted every few years. WB certainly milks the franchise as much as possible. Last week I found a Muppets-style Scooby-Doo that I was unaware existed.

I could have saved them a bunch of money on their wig budget.

I'm actually surprised it's taken this long to reboot Scooby and the gang. I don't mind the two films that were made for just goofy fun films. I'd be interested in the reboot.
