Cantinflas
I doubt many here know about Cantinflas but for those that enjoyed his movies, this looks very good.

Re: Cantinflas
That character's dialogue was just awesome. As a kid I didn't pay attention much to the words but holy hell is that dialogue awesome. Just good word play.

I'd love to see some of his Mexican movies, but I've never seen one subtitled. I have a couple of them on tape, one a pre-record and one taped off a Spanish-language channel, but one does need to know Spanish to appreciate his humor and I wasn't able to sit through either in its entirety. I remember another Mexican comic, German "Tin Tan" Valdes, and I watched one of his movies in its entirety because the humor was more visual and easier to laugh at.
Cantinflas might be similar in some ways to Stephen Chow, most of whose films, pre-SHAOLIN SOCCER, relied a lot on verbal humor and Cantonese wordplay and would have been impossible to appreciate without subtitles. Although I think their comic characters were very different.
What's great about that trailer is the fact that that actor looks just like Cantinflas. Unfortunately, the actor playing Mike Todd (producer of AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS) doesn't look or sound a thing like the real Todd, who was Elizabeth Taylor's husband at the time and, reportedly, her one true love (he died in a plane crash, making him the only husband she didn't divorce). A movie about Mike Todd, with an appropriately charismatic actor in the role, would be interesting.

As someone who grew up watching his films as a kid I hope this is good. I won't count on it because the majority of biopics I have seen have overall been disappointing, but always have good performances by the lead actor. This looks to be the same.

I'm ok with the trailer. I hate the drab color tone filling the whole thing. I hate it most if the time cuz I guess it conveys that this is in the past for most people.

Man, I used to love the Cantinflas Show. The animation style is awesome. I wish they would restore those and release them on Blu-ray some day. Hell, were they released properly on DVD?

I never realized I'd seen the protagonist of this biopic in quite a few movies before. His name is Óscar Jaenada.

Re: Cantinflas
I saw this yesterday in a packed theater. Oscar Jaenada was excellent. The sets and wardrobe captured the time period perfectly. Small budget film, but they did a great job with what they had.
