I'm happy with Cumberbatch, although I think Phoenix or Hawke would've been more interesting he's been quite good (and is able to play more than Sherlock if you've seen him in other roles). Just glad they didn't cast some 22-year-old as IMHO Strange needs to at least be in his late 30s (Cumberbatch is 38).

Yeah, this one has been relegated to watching on Epix whenever it comes out. I like BC but this role does not suit him.

Phoenix was never going to happen. He's too mercurial an actor to commit to a multi-movie, behemoth contract.

I'll still watch it in the theaters, especially if this is all interconnected to the MCU (Although I saw something saying it is a stand alone movie?, bad idea imho)

Now way this is a stand alone. Everything is connected. That's an appeal of the MCU. There were rumors from a while back were looking for something/one to be a figure that connects the films ala IM. Even if not.... the interconnectivity

But.... Stephen Strange is way too interconnected to the Marvel Universe to just be stand alone. He is a whole another section of a universe like The Guardians are. And those guys were interconnected very well to the rest of it. Different spectrums but still.... connected in plain sight.

Meh. I'm fine with the choice of Cumberbatch I suppose but the news doesn't thrill me. I don't really like or dislike him.

I think he's a solid actor who can jump around in genres really well. Overrated? Maybe but he is talented.

That's why it's a good cast job for Marvel. He likes to work. I can see him sticking around for a while. JP might be here today, moving on tomorrow.

According to CA:TWS, he is already part of the Marvel Universe.
