The Making of "The Blind Side"
Bullock had wanted to cut the Christianity out of The Blind Side. That movie could not be made as it was without the permission of the real family it was based on, and Bullock was forced to keep the character's beliefs intact in the movie.

Bullock initially turned down the starring role three times due to discomfort with portraying a devout Christian. According to Bullock, she felt she couldn't objectively represent such a person's beliefs on screen. But after a visit with the real Leigh Anne Tuohy, Bullock was not only won over, but also took a pay cut and agreed to receive a percentage of the profits instead. |

I feel it's a fruitless endeavor to go over the complicated production history for The Blind Side on here. Michael Lewis wrote another fine book and it got adapted by Hollywood, which eventually turned into an Oscar winner and resurrected Bullock's career as a box office star.

The Proposal was a huge hit five months before The Blind Side came out. Although I will admit that was her first really huge hit since Miss Congeniality. However, it was the combination of her three movies in one year (Blind Side, The Proposal, and All About Steve) that made her the highest grossing actor of that year. |

Sooooo this is pointless thread. I don't care for the Blind Side at all. Bullock wasnt the best of that year for sure. She was better in Gravity in terms of acting.
I actually just came in here to see if the film had some type of interesting production. Nope. |

Still haven't seen The Blind Side...but Bullock still is the most bankable/profitable current actress correct? It always seems to be the more questionable roles/projects that end up being huge hits...you'd think actors/studios would be more open to them.

Bullock's made some statements that would indicate that she's an atheist - or at least an agnostic - so it's not surprising she might have concerns about portraying a devout Christian in a role, but I doubt she insisted that the religious/spiritual angle to the movie be completely cut out. She plays a pretty spiritual character in GRAVITY, although not a particularly religious one.

Next new thread: The Making of "Punisher War Zone" Ray Stevenson had wanted to cut the violence out of Punisher War Zone. That movie could not be made as it was without the permission of the real Punisher, so Stevenson was forced to keep the character's violence intact in the movie. |
