I never gave it much thought, and just always assumed he looked like that.

Wow. I always assumed he had some sort of doodad in his mouth to expand his jowls, but never realized how well they weathered his skin.

Me too! What's sort of amazing is that've ended up looking a lot like Vito as he aged. Okay, a fat Vito, but still. Great make-up. As close to a perfect movie as has ever been made, IMO.

Damn. Didn't know Vito's look was that much of applications.
Father Merrin is amazing to me. Saw Exorcist as a kid, never knowing who MVS was. I thought he had died by the time I saw Minority Report in theaters as a teen. Cuz he was already old in The Exorcist. MVS pops up. It amazed me that he was alive and looking the same. Turns out that was really damn good work on a younger man... Add in his performance was really good capturing the age.
That makeup had it good on how he would age.

Yep. I had almost thought of getting into Hollywood makeup because of his work. Of course, I only learned who he was when he showed up on the old Mike Douglas Show to demonstrate how he aged Marlon Brando's skin for The Godfather. But I was still young but it really fascinated me.

Marlon would have turned 90 yesterday (April 3). Doris Day actually did turn 90 yesterday. Hard to believe those two are birthday twins.
Eddie Murphy turned 53 yesterday.

You need to see him in Bergman's films. Another great team of actor & director on par with Scorsese/DeNiro, Kurosawa/Mifune, Fellini/Mastroianni, Herzog/Kinski, etc... They did 13 films together.
