Phantasm V: Ravager (2016)
Does anyone have any new information other than this movie not being made, i mean angus is getting old and there's no one to replace a guy like him, well it's sad to see baby geniuses get a hollywood sequel and phantasm 5 not even being strait to video.

The last I heard, Don Coscarelli was still trying to secure financing and that Bruce Campbell might be in it, but that was way back before even Bubba Ho-tep had been anounced.

There were plans for a 5th movie, but that was several years ago, back before Don Coscarelli started working on Bubba Hotep. Now there's talk of him doing a sequel to that, and Phantasm's End (as the proposed 5th movie was being called) is totally off the radar.

I thought I heard about a rumored remake of Phantasm not too long ago. I don't remember where I read about it, though. If it was on the Internet, it must be true!

You're not crazy. They were in talks to remake the series into a new trilogy with Coscarelli as a consultant, but he recently said in interviews for the new UK boxset the deal fell through. I THINK he was talking to New Line about it.

Phantasm V actually happening?
From Dread Central:
You read the headline. You have the same questions we all do. While at this point in time we cannot elaborate on many details, we can tell you this... the ball has definitely not stopped spinning, and there are wonderfully ghastly things on the way!
Before we get into details surrounding what we know, remember this - we rarely publish stories that are pure rumor, and if we do, we're very upfront about it. We would NOT tell you guys that Phantasm 5 is happening and happening soon unless we were at least 95% sure of the news. That being said...
We just got off the wire with our very own Rob Delamorte, who has been informed by an extremely reliable source that Phantasm 5 is fully scripted and will begin filming this year. You can expect to hear more about this one soon.
Let the speculation begin.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I've always thought Phantasm was one of the most interesting horror series out there. The first film is an absolute classic, and I've thoroughly enjoyed all of the sequels.
Yes, even OblIVion.

I fully enjoyed the series but I thought IV ended weird, maybe we'll get a proper conclusion to the story this time. Hoping this is Coscarelli's masterpiece ending.
I'm game... -kd5-

Better hurry, Angus Scrimm isn't getting any younger!

Ah just reboot the first one with a good size budget. The low budget limitations on that one really hurt it even though I like it.
That is the one movie I would not mind being remade.

Phantasm V: Ravager (2014)
I heard rumblings last year that Don Coscarelli was quietly putting together a Phantasm V. And now it's confirmed to be completed, with the entire gang back.
As a huge fan of this underrated horror series, I'm more or less ecstatic right now.

I enjoy this series, but I'm not even sure if I've seen the 4th one.

From Shock Till You Drop:
The team at Phantasm Archives have thrown a few tidbits about Phantasm 5, or Phantasm V: Ravager, into the news ring this afternoon. (And I think they know quite a bit about this series and what's happening with it.)
Today, we got word that the fifth installment of the franchise is definitely on the way. And Shock had learned it was already shot. Phantasm Archives says that this project has been in the works since 2008. They broke it down bullet point style:
The original working title for several years was "Reggie's Tales."
The original cast members put in appearances along with some Don Coscarelli regulars.
It was partly filmed in Crestline, CA at Reggie Bannister's own home!
Many of the familiar series elements are back… the 'Cuda and the sphere especially. Oh, yes… there will be blood!
They did not write this over at the site, but Phantasm Archives was able to confirm to me that none other than David Hartman wrote and directed Phantasm V: Ravager. Hartman is an artist who has done a ton of work for various studios and genre personalities like Rob Zombie. You can see his work here. (He even did Shock Till You Drop's official poster back in '07 when we first launched!)
Don Coscarelli has been supervising the fifth film, so do not think he's not involved.

Ok... I didn't know someone else directed this. Not so sure now, but I'll remain cautiously optimistic. I wonder why Coscarelli didn't just do it? He isn't that busy.

weird that coscarelli didn't direct. but then again if he was going to use the lame cgi effects he used in JOHN DIES IN THE END it might be for the better.
