I never cared for Part 2, but all I can now think of is:

Holy Shit! I was just watching Stripes yesterday.

Animal House, Meatballs, Caddyshack, Stripes, Vacation, Ghostbusters.

One of the Founding Fathers of modern movie comedy. A great legacy along with SCTV.

They won't because the awards are this weekend, and they look down on real comedy anyways, but Harold Ramis is someone who deserves a tribute at the Oscars.

Egon was a childhood hero of mine, Ghostbusters a big part of my childhood overall.

This was unexpected.

Unexpected for sure. This guy made me laugh throughout my teen years with his classics.

Sad news indeed. Many childhood favorites from those lists.

Sad, sad and unexpected news. RIP.

He won't make the In Memorium list but someone will mention him, even unofficially.

Sucks. He was responsible for so many comedies that influenced my life.

Gotta be the suckiest Monday ever. RIP Egon

This ruined my day. He was one of the greats from my childhood. I'd ranked him right up there with Bill Murray, Steven Spielberg, and Harrison Ford as biggest influences on my childhood.

He had some great lines even though he played second fiddle in most of his movies.

Walter Peck: Hold it! I want this man arrested! Captain, these men are in criminal violation of the Environmental Protection Act! And this explosion is a direct result of it!

Really caught me off guard seeing this when I came home from work today. Needless to say, pretty saddened by this news; much more so than other celebrity deaths. He and his films were a huge part of my childhood; I probably watched Stripes, Caddyshack, Ghostbusters, Groundhog Day, etc. hundreds of times as a kid and still watch them frequently. Tremendous writer, director, and actor and a huge loss to the comedy world.

RIP Harold Ramis, going to watch Stripes tonight in memory of him.

He's gone to the Big Twinkie in the sky. RIP, Harold.

Even though his involvement was only as writer, I have always had a soft spot for "Meatballs."

That graphic hit me a lot harder than I expected.
