I'd love to see more Frank Grillo.

Fans of the cult classic “The Raid” may have to wait a little bit longer to see how the Screen Gems remake turns out.
Or, they can just watch the original and it's sequel and be perfectly content with those two great movies without having to wait for what's sure to be a sub-par remake.

So this will be like the last Schwarzenegger film Sabotage? I thought Evans was scouting for Raid 3?

And better yet, you can also blame Obama for it.

If I were given the keys to the franchise, I would have it set in 1970's Harlem with Donald Glover (who trains for weeks to learn the martial arts with the actor who played Rama) as a part of a SWAT team taking down a pimp/drug lord's building. Keep it gritty and realistic, and I'd like to see Nick Kroll the character who hid in a wall with Rama in the original. I think if worked out as well, he could be a Jewish officer who could hold his own. That's just a general outline, but to get it shot on film, that would be a Raid remake I'd watch.

I'm hoping they cast Karl Urban in the lead.

re: Zeno -- The Raid "remake" (D: Carnahan) S: Grillo

As rumors swirl regarding the second season of HBO's “True Detective,” Taylor Kitsch has been offered the lead in Screen Gems’ English-language remake of “The Raid,” multiple individuals familiar with the project have told TheWrap.

While Kitsch's team has been pushing HBO and “True Detective” creator Nic Pizzolatto to cast him as the young male lead of the second season, they've been positioning him for “The Raid” remake in the meantime.

Patrick Hughes (“The Expendables 3”) is directing the action movie, which is gearing up for a January 2015 shoot. Coincidentally, that is when the second season of “True Detective” is slated to wrap filming.

While two sources told TheWrap that Kitsch is in negotiations for “The Raid,” one cautioned that the two sides remain apart on financial terms of the proposed deal.

Representatives for Kitsch and Screen Gems did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Brad Ingelsby (“Run All Night”) wrote “The Raid” remake, which is based on the original 2011 movie written and directed by Gareth Evans.

XYZ Films is returning to produce a remake that is expected to hew closely to the original film, which followed an elite Indonesian SWAT that gets trapped inside a building run by a vicious gangster and his thugs.

Kitsch recently proved he still has the dramatic chops that made him a star on “Friday Night Lights,” as he's coming off well-reviewed turns in Ryan Murphy‘s HBO movie “The Normal Heart” and Peter Berg‘s emotional war movie “Lone Survivor.”

Kitsch is represented by CAA and Untitled Entertainment.

Taylor Kitsch?

Do they want this film to be a box office failure?

Blasphemy! (Yes, I'd like a ticket for the 7:30 showing.)

What's the point?! (When does the Blu-ray come out?)

This is going to suck! (Ooh, the Target exclusive has a bonus disc!)

Just another day on the internet.

"This writer sucks! He needs to be taken off of this comic!"
"Then why do you keep reading it?"
"Well, I need to know what happens!"

I'm surprised he still gets work after John Carter of Mars even if it wasn't his fault.

This film will be a failure no matter who they cast.

It's a surefire bomb much like Brick Mansions, but I read that as Taylor Lautner and laughed.

Outside of being Walker's final performance (Which it obviously wasn't supposed to be anyway), what was the marketing for Brick Mansions? I'm assuming it bombed, I barely even heard about it.

I saw plenty of commercials for it when it came out. It just did poorly. There seemed to be ample marketing.

Plenty of advertising, a lot of people asked me about it as well (I'm the go to movie guy apparently), I recommended District B13 and shut up.

Brick Mansions just looked horrible and like I was really going to believe that Walker learned parkour? No. District B13 and its sequel are the bomb, though.

Walker wasn't the Parkour guy in Brick Mansions, David Belle was.

B13 was the same way, Cyril Raffaelli didn't really do much parkour, he was more the run and gun type with some karate thrown in.

Or martial arts, etc. Walker looked like he was just in the way.

Also, Brick Mansions was rated PG-13. The B13 flicks were both R.

PG-13 works fine with it, the dubbing and poor filmmaking is what kills Brick Mansions.

If you're going to dub over somebody (in this case David Belle) at least have a fitting voice.
