No. The original thread title was just "Are movie titles getting less interesting?" One of the mods must've added the answer.

Not a lot of anything there.
Wow there were a lot of good movies in the theaters that week. And I saw every one of them in the theater, went to a lot of movies back then

For a while, the JAMES BOND movie titles got to be a bit cliched:

Tomorrow Never Dies
The World is Not Enough
Die Another Day

I mean, how often can the word LIVE or DIE be used in a BOND title?

I prefer short and to the point titles than the unnecessarily long titles from a few years ago that used colons to sound like sequels even though they weren't.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl
Master and Commander: the Far side of the World
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

Usually, they're set up that way because of anticipated franchises, with later sequels using the first part. Granted, only one of those films did well enough to generate a franchise.

A recent example is Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit. I think they're trying to launch a franchise there around the Jack Ryan character.

They were probably hoping to cash in on the Jack Ryan name as well.

Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol

A colon and a hyphen! They should have added the "IV" in there to get the trifecta.

You Only LIVE Twice
LIVE and Let DIE
The LIVING Daylights
Tomorrow Never DIES
DIE Another Day

Only five titles, but:
"Live" gets 3 (if you count "living")
"Die" gets 3 (if you count "dies")

And "Gold" also gets 3:

GOLDfinger
The Man With the GOLDen Gun
GOLDeneye

I can't believe noone has mentioned SNAKES ON A PLANE ...

Beats the hell out of such lame titles as STAR WARS, JAWS, and ALIEN.
