I just watched this on Netflix, not knowing anything about it beforehand. I liked some things about it, but overall I think it was a failure. The story had potential, but it was wasted. The film didn't seem to find a consistent or appropriate directorial tone to tell the story.
Even though though this was a somewhat absurdist movie, the "salt in the wound" gag felt like something from a totally different movie--perhaps one directed by the Zucker brothers.
