He looks better than Quicksilver did, and look how that turned out.

I don't see what the big deal is. He looks like Nightcrawler from the comics to me. It's not like he has gangsta tats and grill.

Looks like a younger version of what we saw in X2 to me, so it seems fine.

Yeah. I don't get the hate. At least he doesn't have greasy hair this time around.

Is there a reason why we're already revisiting mutants we already had versus bringing more new ones to the big screen? We don't really need Nightcrawler again do we? Not to mention Azazel is pretty similar.

Azazel is similar because
Spoiler:
he is Nightcrawler's father. Mystique is his mother. It would be interesting to see the movie go there.

it won't cuz what DoFP mentioned. Well maybe... depending on whether it's something that happened before DoFP.

Spoiler:
You mean because DOFP says Azazel died? Did it say when he died? I don't remember. Assuming Nightcrawler is a teenager or early 20s in this movie, which is set in the 1980s, then he would have been born in the 1960s or early 1970s. It's possible Azazel knocked up Mystique before he died. DOFP was set in 1973.

Let's just leave Chuck Austen's contributions to X-Men lore in the corner where it belongs. There's no reason for any of that stuff to bleed over into the movie universe.

Most fans I know want to keep it out of the comic world too.

If they're going to dip into Nightcrawler's parentage, they should run with Chris Claremont's aborted comic story that would have revealed that Mystique was his father.

Didn't the editor at the time run a mile from the idea?

When the timeline is "corrected" it's safe to assume that Azazel is alive again, as is Angel.

No it's not.
Spoiler:
Azazel died before the events of DOFP (before the date Wolverine traveled back to) and Angel was born after said events. The resurrection of the former and retconned age of the latter would make no sense.

Spoiler:
You're thinking of the girl with the little pixie wings from the First Class movie. Her name was Angel, and DOFP mentioned she died.

However, the Angel in Apocalypse is an entirely different character. This is the classic Warren Worthington character who was also in X3: The Last Stand. He never died. The problem with this character is that he was around 20 years old in X3, and that movie was set in the mid 2000s. In Apocalypse, which is set in the mid 1980s, he should be a baby. They are clearly retconning his age. DOFP "correcting" the timeline isn't going to magically make a person be born decades earlier. This is just a flat out retcon of his age.

Maybe Worthington Senior fucked earlier after all the chaos in caused Washington in DOFP. Wanted to get his seed spread earlier.

Oh shit... I like the '80s look! Looks like the animated series! Also it looks like film will be taking place in 1983.

Re: X-Men: Apocalypse (D: Singer; May 27th, 2016)

DOFP acted as an in-continuity reboot. First Class and DOFP are now the only X-films that are still in continuity, so anything that takes place after 1974 or so is up for grabs.

Though if The next movie, Apocalypse, or whatever it will be called, takes place in 1983, it would mean Warren Worthington would have to have been born before 1974 if he's going to be older than nine. Same with Rogue, Kitty, or any other younger X-Men from the earlier movies.

It could be said that in the new timeline that they were born earlier than they were in the old timeline, but the new film isn't set far enough beyond the change point (1974) to accomodate this since anything before that would still be common to both timelines.

Unless Worthington Sr. has some precog abilities to see the future, then how would he know what would happen in 1973 to spread his seed earlier? If Worthington Jr. is a teen in 1983, then he would have to be born before the events of DOFP in 1973.

Yes, DOFP rebooted continuity, but some things just cannot be rebooted and make any sense. Something like Jean dying and becoming the Dark Phoenix can be rebooted to make it so she never died in the first place. However, it makes absolutely no sense for a character to be born earlier.

Re: X-Men: Apocalypse (D: Singer; May 27th, 2016)

Don't taffer it. It was a joke.

But I agree, I'm not really crazy about them using characters that don't match up in age. Regardless... the time line is incredibly fucked and convoluted. Professor X walks here, and doesn't walk there... he has hair, he doesn't. They met this year, they didn't.

Moira is another example of a character in X3 who's age doesn't match up with the movies that came after.

I guess just think of it this way... they were essentially rebooting everything, but doing the fans a service and using all the same principles to pass the torch. Instead of rehashing things over and over again, ala Spider-Man. They are just redoing it the way the want, in a way that can keep the franchise going, but still feel like it never "changed".

Emma Frost is another character who is screwed up. She was a young girl in the 1970s during Wolverine Origins, and she was an older adult in the 1960s in First Class.

I agree the continuity of these movies is completely FUBAR. Warren Worthington is just inconsistency #16,239,626.
