Re: The Hateful Eight (2015, D: Tarantino)
In regard to my comments about 8K, I fully understand the impossibility of it today, because of the cost and time involved. I hope to see it happen in my lifetime (meaning, a movie shot, edited, and distributed totally in 8K with no 2K, 4K, or 6K DI), but I'm not necessarily counting on it. Something like that would be marvelous, and (possibly) just as beautiful as something shot on 70mm. It would take a director like James Cameron to make that happen sooner than later, but he's too busy post-converting his movies to 3D and (is he still?) planning for Avatar 2 to be 60fps. Two 'specs' I don't give a shit about personally. But the time/cost/data involved in those endeavors probably still doesn't compare to the cost of going all-in on 8K. I just think it's a more meaningful goal than those things, even if the average person doesn't care.
Back to Hateful Eight... I'm hoping to catch it next Thursday... in boring old 2K

Incorrect. Scene wise, the Roadshow version has six extra minutes of film, on top of the overture and intermission.

In this interview with Quentin Tarantino & Paul Thomas Anderson, at around 30:43 he talks about getting Ennio Morricone on board and how the score is more a Horror film score, as opposed to a Western.

But a thought I've had about QT and all those VHS tapes he saw (and now owns) from Video Archives: A shitload of them must have been cropped to 4:3. So I wonder if a lot of the movies he saw were in the wrong AR.

Sold out today again too (My first time at that theater. Had no idea how archaic that place is)
The programs are snazzier than I expected and I didn't think there would still be any left over from yesterday, but they still had a lot. I picked up 2 more from some guys who left theirs behind

I'm seeing it again in 70mm tomorrow night, so I hope I get Daisy this time.

I'd LOVE to see the roadshow again, asap. But I can't find another time on the schedule to make it again. But, at least, 2 more viewings for the wide release are certainly in my future.

Lots of Bobs going around!
What a score you got with Jackson (Sam outdid himself with this movie) The Russell one looks good. You can see it at 5:46 here
Yet I'm partial to the Michael Madsen one because it goes with my "Mr. Blonde" disc, I guess.

Looks like I'm seeing the 70mm Roadshow at least 2 more times this week.
Two of my best friends wanted to go so I have tickets for tonight in San Francisco and then going back to Oakland on Wednesday for another screening.

asianxcore, thanks for posting the QT/PTA interview. Two filmmakers that I have an incredible amount of admiration and respect for. PTA's Magnolia is amazing!! And QT's films are 'must-see' multiple times offerings that I truly cherish as I know that the well will soon run dry after #10. Tarantino's enthusiasm for and knowledge of cinema is truly mind-blowing and infectious for movie lovers of all ilks.

My friend, knowing how much I wanted Daisy in the program, asked one of the ushers if she could trade mine in for a Daisy. Both ushers looked through their stacks and it was all Oswaldo & Bob. During the Intermission, one of them stopped my friend and said she found 2 Daisy Programs and gave them to her. So happy about all of that
Seeing it on Wednesday for the 3rd time in 70mm with another one of my best friends!
