I really like Thom Mathews as Jarvis (Part 6 is my favorite film of the whole franchise) and I would've been 100% on board bringing HIM back as Jarvis instead of Feldman if this was 10-15 years ago, but Thom has to be pushing 60 now. But I agree about keeping the timeline of parts 5-6 in there for a sequel - no reason to get rid of them.

re: Untitled Friday the 13th film

Honestly I'd be down with having Tommy Jarvis brought back and if Feldman wants to reprise the role why not go for it? It can't be any worse than some of the crap the franchise has produced and I'd still put The Final Chapter up there as one of if not the best entry in the series beyond the first film. I'm not sure if they need to go the H20 route with retconning a bunch of the franchise (I'd maybe throw out the New Line entries if anything) but bringing back Tommy would be fun as he's a fan favorite and the only guy who's almost brought Jason down twice.

re: Untitled Friday the 13th film

Tommy Jarvis was a character in name only. He was not developed at all and felt like a completely different person from movie to movie. As somebody who loves part 4 and 6, I'm not really interested in seeing Tommy return. Just follow the formula from the first few movies, it's really not that hard.

re: Untitled Friday the 13th film

That's fair I suppose. He was never really properly developed like he could have been despite appearing in three films. Though to be fair his first appearance he's a kid so there were going to be changes to his character. I think more or less his character in the fifth and sixth films was an okay adult version of the character seen originally and we saw how his encounter with Jason messed him up. I think there's enough there where bringing him back could still be somewhat interesting.

re: Untitled Friday the 13th film

From part 4 to part 5 it works. But part 6 has such a different tone and Tommy doesn't feel like the same person at all, everything is much lighter(which I enjoyed) and there really isn't the sense that this is person who suffered something traumatic enough to be hospitalized. It's just unnecessary, this isn't a franchise that needs a human protagonist to keep the audience invested. There's no need for continuity or a continuing plot. Just serve up some horny counselors to Jason and call it a day. They're trying to reinvent the wheel when they just need a decent writer/director to give us a solid slasher.

If they're gonna go the Jarvis route I really hope they don't use Feldman. I'd rather it was an old ass Mathews

I mostly agree I just like the character and Feldman. I don't think he'd have to be an on going character in the franchise but even if he came back and gets killed at the end or something (maybe sacrificing himself trying to kill Jason) would be good.

You know thinking about it today, how did they not release a movie today? The 13th Friday film, on Friday the 13th, and in October. Jesus.

That makes too much sense proving why you are not the head of a movie studio.

Yeah that was a huge missed opportunity. I don't know how they haven't been able to put something together by now. Maybe by 2023 when the next Friday the 13th in October happens they'll have one ready..

Give the rights to Jason Blum.

That remake from 2009 (Friday the 13th) was fine and entertaining. The studio just got butt hurt that the film cost only 19 million and topped off at 63 million. That, and the 2nd week drop was like 60-70%. Can't believe it's been almost ten years.

Yea...of the big 3 of the horror franchise remakes, F13 was the best. Also, it had one of the best sex scenes.

I suppose I agree that of the big three horror remakes the 2009 Friday the 13th is probably the best but I still don't like it.

re: Untitled Friday the 13th film

I'm utterly shocked they can't get this movie made already. It's not Gone with the Wind!

1. Write script following format from F13 1-5. (Mainly 4)
2. Hire unknowns on the cheap.
3. Shoot film within 30 days.
4. Don't 'overkill' Jason at the end so he may return. (A woodchipper in the remake? Really?)
4. Make 7 or 8 sequels all following the same formula.

re: Untitled Friday the 13th film

As already stated, just give it to Jason Blumhouse. He can make it on the cheap ($19M in 2009 dollars was way too expensive for a F13 movie), and get a lot of butts in the seats. The latest Blumhouse movie is doing just that as we speak.

I don't know why Paramount was adamant that the latest movie not be set during the 80s. With all the nostalgia going on these days in entertainment, it would be a great idea to do one during that era.

Doesn't even matter.

Spoiler:
He survived and dragged Jared Padalecki's character down into the water anyway.

Speaking of that movie -- I gotta watch it again. It's been at least 5 years or so since I saw it last on BD and I own the fucking thing.

With lines like "Stupendous tits, Your tits are fucking just... so juicy, dude, and You got perfect nipple placement, baby", how is it not everyone's favorite F13!

An 80s F13 would have been awesome! Of course I’m still a little peeved they didn’t do a 70s/80s Halloween remake. I’m sure Ti West needs work!

Ti gets tv work now. I just watched the 3rd episode of The Exorcist series 9season two) and he directed it.

re: Untitled Friday the 13th film

I actually googled him as soon as I wrote that post. It looks like he’s only directed 1 episode of The Excorcist so far (was it cancelled?) also looks like he’s directed an episode here and there if other horror type tv shows too. None of his tv work looked too consistent though.

I also forgot he directed The Sacrament a few years ago. For some reason I thought Eli Roth directed that one.

Exorcist is in its second season - it did get renewed. I think his most recent feature, a western, had promise, but too many quirks. He can do horror well if he stays on the path, but I loath The Innkeepers and love House of the Devil.

It does matter though. Going full "Zombie Jason" is where the franchise messed up in the first place. Jason Lives was the only one that successfully pulled that off, and even that was a spoof on the entire series.

What do you mean? I just meant to say that the reboot from 2009 was fine even after
Spoiler:
Jason's head gets run through the woodchipper. He obviously lived, because the last scene confirms that,
but it's the studio's fault for not going through with a sequel. This would have been a totally different universe since it didn't follow what came before, because it was a reboot. And I believe what came before was Jason X and Freddy Vs Jason. 2009's version was something new.
