Mangold posted this photo of what Professor X looks like.

Yup, character has not aged well.

Some spoilers/details about the movie and setting.

Spoiler:
We learned further details from an insider who said that the girl in the poster is a young mutant. In 2024, mutant births are severely in decline, and people aren’t sure why. We find out about a government-type operation called “Transigen” that is turning mutant children into killing machines. Logan ends up mentoring the girl, who has two claws instead of his three.

There’s more. Professor X (Patrick Stewart) is old and not well. His powers are unstable and at times he doesn’t even remember Logan. Stephen Merchant plays the Albino mutant Caliban, who helps Logan take care of Professor X.

So that means...

Spoiler:
X-23?

Well... as far as I now... Stewart can still keep his dick up for his wife. So he's alright for now.

Re: Logan (Wolverine 3) (2017, D: Mangold) S: Jackman

OCTOBER 10, 2016 8:49am PT by Aaron Couch
'Wolverine 3' Villain Revealed

'Narcos' star Boyd Holbrook will play Donald Pierce.

The villain Logan (Hugh Jackman) will be squaring off against in the third Wolverine film has finally been revealed.

Narcos star Boyd Holbrook was cast as a mystery villain in April, and now the official Instagram page for Logan has identified his character as Donald Pierce.

In the comics, Pierce is a cyborg has ties to The Hellfire Club, the a shadowy group of wealthy and powerful individuals who seek to gain power and influence across the world. They were portrayed 2011's X-Men: First Class, where they were led by Sebastian Shaw (Kevin Bacon). A key part of Pierce's modus operandi: creating an army of cyborgs called Reavers (who have been rumored to be in Logan).

The news comes after the first images from Logan were revealed last week, with the first photo of an aged Prof. X (Patrick Stewart) shared, as well as several others over the weekend:

Director James Mangold tweeted a page from the script last week, giving a sense of the R-rated film from Fox's tone.

"Basically, if you're on the make for a hyper choreographed, gravity defying, city-block destroying CG f--kathon, this ain't your movie," reads a page from the script, which Mangold shared this week. "In this flick, people get hurt or killed when shit falls on them. They will get just as hurt or just as killed if they get hit with something big and heavy, like, say, a car. Should anyone in our story have the misfortune to fall off a roof or out a window, they won't bounce. They will die."

Logan is set for March 3, 2017.

Pierce and the Reavers are cool. They should find a way to get this image in.

They should have gotten Keifer Sutherland to play Donald Pierce.

Spoiler:
The character was based on Donald Sutherland, as in Donald Sutherland + Hawkeye Pierce.

I thought New Mutants was set in modern times, because Deadpool's Negasonic character was supposed to be part of that team. Then, a later New Mutants concept art reveal didn't feature her. These timelines are confusing.

Yeah, the timeline is really wonky.

Of the currently "canon" films (that weren't wiped from continuity by DOFP):

1962 - X-Men First Class
1974 - X-Men Days of Future Past
1983 - Apocalypse
2016 - Deadpool
2023(?) - Final scene of X-Men Days of Future Past

No telling how they're going to play all of this. The films take place across decades, and characters from one movie are going to age significantly between films.

"New Mutants" is, effectively, the X-Men JV Team. They're teenagers being trained to use their powers, and some of them could eventually become full-fledged X-Men, so you could have a New Mutants film set anywhere from 1985 to the present with the ability to bump some of those characters up to X-Men if they want to.

2023(?) - Final scene of X-Men Days of Future Past
That scene should have been expanded in Apocalypse. I've yet to see the deleted footage from that film but doubt they even mention a younger Apocalypse or how he even had his mutant abilities augmented by the alien technology.

Unless you're talking about the regular ending of the film right before the end credits:

Wolverine wakes up back in the future to find Iceman, Rogue, Colossus, Pryde, Beast, Storm, Jean Grey, Scott Summers, and Xavier all alive. He then proceeds to explain to Xavier about his experience. In 1973, Mystique, impersonating Stryker, takes custody of Wolverine, who has been fished out of the river.

Yeah, the scene with Wolverine at the mansion after he changed the past.

Re: Logan (Wolverine 3) (2017, D: Mangold) S: Jackman

As crap as Apocalypse was... DoFP's ending was a bad idea. Cuz it just tells you who lives in the future. Sure the trip may be cool, it wasn't, but I'm not scared for the danger that scott and Jean and whatever other person is around if I see them as adults. Unless Singer was going to go into REALLY FUCKED UP territory.... there's not much to fear for our younger heroes. Jesus, Apocalypse was boring as fuck. At least X3 had shit going on in it. Apocalypse was just... a pointless story.

Who is Cable's mother?

Isn't it:
Spoiler:
Madelyne Pryce, a Jean Grey clone?

Does DoFP change that now?

Essex Corp does cloning work so I wonder that would involve Jean Grey at some point. I don't know the X-comics that well.

Holy crap if that leaked trailer is true then I'm actually really really excited to see this one. Seems a lot more intimate a movie than other superhero outings. And I just love that version of that song...
