Lets face it, Batman absorbs a lot of punishment. He must get injured from time to time. If he's sitting on the sidelines while Gotham falls to pieces it's in his best interest and Gotham's best interest for him to be back on the streets protecting the city ASAP. But if he's injured and can't train and keep his body in shape, who's to say how long he could be sidelined for? A year? More? there's probably a good chance that a performace enhancing drug could cut the time he's sidelined in half.

My guess is that Batman is juiced to his eyeballs. He must be.

In the story "Venom" he does for a while then decides not to after that. Very simplified version of events, but there's your answer.

In that story someone died because Batman couldn't lift several hundred pounds of weight off a person being crushed to death. Tortured by the experience, Bruce went into a hardcore workout regimen and used the Venom drug to surpass his human limits. Venom is the drug that gives Bane his strength.

I don't think DC has really touched the idea since then but you have to believe Batman would use PEDs to keep up with all of the superpowered villains he comes across in a realistic treatment of the modern character.

There is probably a really good Elseworlds which could be built around the idea.

I don't know if he uses drugs to make himself stronger. But he must be using the stuff that makes the muscles recover faster. MMA fighters only have a few matches a year, but Batman is back on the streets the next night after he gets in a fight.

If he does, then I feel his criminals captured stats should have an asterisk next to them.

The whole Justice League is on PED's! Ever watch those fight scenes on Justice League Unlimited? The heroes are slammed against walls and buildings, fall down on the pavement and get right back up again to continue the fight. On the animated series, The Batman, Penguin was a blob, but he moved like a friggin' ninja.

The Spectacular Spider-Man is on PED's, too.

Batman doesn't need performance enhancing drugs, he has that nifty leg brace that lets him kick through rock even though he so stupid he doesn't even use it to kick Bane once.
