When I was a kid, my dad turned the tv to an old war movie "To Hell and Back." Dad explained that the star of the movie, Audie Murphy, was an actual war hero and that the movie was autobiographical, based on Murphy's own WW2 experiences in the Army. I got really into the movie, and at one harrowing point during the big climactic battle scene, I nervously asked my dad, "Is he going to die?!" Dad just started laughing.

Bolded the ones I think should be priorities, with the Peckinpahs, THE GETAWAY at #1 and PAT GARRETT at #2. Depending on your tolerance for longer movies, save these for last (LAWRENCE, SPARTACUS, MUTINY). Good movies all, but quite long.

I finally remembered a big movie I've never seen: The Professional (1994). Bear in mind, I have see the movie once during it's theatrical release but, many years later, I kept on hearing how "Leon" was the superior version of the film. Has it come to the point where the Director's Cut of the film is now the standard version of the film on physical media or streaming? Or are they still seperate?

It’s just one if those movies that never aired on cable when I was growing up. I think the only place I ever saw it playing was on VH1 back in the day (most likely edited to shit with a million commercials). Checking the JustWatch app, it looks like it’s still not available on any of the streaming services and only available to rent for $6. Not the most accessible movie out there.
Believe it or not, I first saw (Parts of) the movie on PBS! Which really shouldn't be much of a surprise since PBS did have a "Criterion mentality" when it came to their film picks. I also remember 2001 and El Norte being shown there.

I can't speak for streaming, but I believe at this point most physical releases contain both cuts.

Braveheart is worth a watch and split it over 2 nights.
On my command, unleash intermission!

O.K. CORRAL is my favorite Wyatt Earp/Doc Holliday movie and I've seen it way more times than any of the others. In addition to Burt Lancaster, Kirk Douglas and Rhonda Fleming, it's got Jo Van Fleet, Dennis Hopper, DeForest Kelley, Lee Van Cleef, Earl Holliman, John Ireland, Kenneth Tobey, Ted de Corsia, Whit Bissell and Martin Milner.

I rewatched The Treasure of the Sierra Madre and Paths of Glory this year. They are two of my all-time favorites. You are in for a real treat.

Since I finally got around to watching Grease this year, I think that Dumb and Dumber and Mrs. Doubtfire are the two most egregious instances of popular movies that I haven't yet seen.
