Re: movies where old technology is used to beat new technology
I've seen a million Japanese and Hong Kong action films where a sword beats a gun or a martial arts blow overcomes someone with firearms, but now that I think of it, I can't remember one. I do recall one, SEVEN MAN ARMY, where the title band of Chinese soldiers in WWII try to fend off superior Japanese armed units with kung fu and succeed up to a point before the Japs finally come to their senses and blow them away, something they could have done at any moment in the preceding 90 minutes rather than lose so many of their men to the Chinese guys' bayonets, swords and kung fu. An all-star cast and lots of great kung fu, but completely ludicrous in all respects, like most Hong Kong movies about WWII.

I personally have no idea. I think it's funny when it shows up in movies. It's always a character screaming about using Morse code, and how there's always someone on the other side who can decifer it. Only in the movies.
