i think it's funny that people give a shit when a movie is released. "oh, the kids are in school!" "Oh, the kids are out of school!"

If you make a good movie (*cough* GotG *cough*), people will go see it no matter when it comes out.

I think it has been proven that the month does not matter at all, the studios are just a little weird when it comes to their superstitions:

March
2014 - Divergent ($150,947,895)
2013 - Oz The Great and Powerful ($234,911,825) Disney
2012 - The Hunger Games ($408,010,692) (15th highest grossing movie of ALL-TIME)
2011 - Rango ($123,477,607)
2010 - Alice in Wonderland ($334,191,110) Disney (30th Highest Grossing movie of ALL-TIME)
2009 - Monsters Vs. Aliens ($198,351,526)
2008 - Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who! ($154,529,439)
2007 - 300 ($210,614,939) WB
2006 - Ice Age: The Meltdown ($195,330,621) Fox
2005 - Robots ($128,200,012)
2004 - Starsky and Hutch ($88,237,754) WB (IMHO, the worst movie of the bunch)
2003 - Bringing Down the House ($132,716,677) Disney
2002 - Ice Age ($176,387,405) Fox
2001 - Spy Kids ($112,719,001)
2000 - Erin Brockovich ($125,595,205)
1999 - The Matrix ($171,479,930) WB
1998 - Everest ($87,178,599) IMAX (2nd highest IMAX movie made by IMAX)
1997 - Liar Liar ($181,410,615)
1996 - The Birdcage ($124,060,553)

1990 - Pretty Woman ($178,406,268) Disney
***If you adjust for inflation, some of the older movie did MUCH better than their numbers look today***
-Many different types of movies are on this list: Family, R, Action, Comedy, Date Night/Chick Flicks, Animated, Sci-Fi, IMAX, Teen (Hunger Games?)...

I went to ten of these movies in the theater (March).

So, if it is a good/great movie, any month is a good month to release it.
-The studios believe that they need to release a movie at just the right time to make the most $$$, I do not believe that.

If other studios think they can drop their "Junk" movies in March, then Bats vs Supes will do even better.
-I will go see this movie if it is in Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, May, June, July, Aug, Sept, Oct, Nov or Dec.

People use to think Aug was the "Junk Month" of the summer, but GotG sure blew that theory out of the water by $30 million and still going strong.

Christmas of 2015 would have put it up against Star Wars Episode VII

Re: Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) (D: Snyder; S: Gadot)

From a pure business point of view March looks great, no real competition at this time:

March:
• Peregrine's Home for Peculiars (Fox) - 3/4
• Untitled Disney Animation (2016) (BV) - 3/4 (Could be a good movie, but most likely not anything Bats/Supes has to worry about)
• Warcraft (Uni.) - 3/11
• Boss Baby (Fox) - 3/18
• The Divergent Series: Allegiant - Part 1 (LG/S) - 3/18 (Saw Divergent because I love my wife, but this was the worst movie I have seen all year)
• Christ the Lord (Focus) - 3/23 (Interesting going up against this one, people will see both if they want to. I will see both, if it is not "Hollywoodised" like Noah.)
• Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice (WB) - 3/25
• Beverly Hills Cop (2016) (Par.) - 3/25 (Reboot or an old tire movie)

***Perfect month to release it****
-Some schools will be out for Spring Break

AND, that means the movie will come out on BR in End of July/Aug (maybe Sept). First day pick up for me...Captain America will also be a First Day Watch in the Theater and First Day pickup on BR.
-I am loving both DC and Marvel movie, they are both different in look and mode which I like.

While I think it's obvious they're running scared, this is a good move. If it came out against Cap 3, it most likely would have been swept away and forgotten within two weeks. Late March means it could potentially be the #1 movie all the way until Cap 3's release date.

I will see both movies, just wanted to let you know that so you do not think I am a fan boy only for DC.

1. Bats/Supes would not be swept away if it went up against Caps.
-All the fan boys would have seen both.
-Personally I am disappointed because I was going to see Bats/Supes first, then leave that theater and go directly into Caps to watch it. Now, that plan is gone. Very sad, was looking forward to doing that for the first time in my life.
-Most likely both movies would have been hurt going head to head.

2. There is no way Bats/Supes could ever hold the #1 spot for 6 weeks in a row.
-The last movie to hold #1 at least 6 weeks in a row was Avatar at the end of 2009 to the beginning of 2010, it held #1 for 8 weeks in a row.
-NO other movie has held #1 for more than 4 weeks in a row since Avatar.
-NO Super Hero movie has held #1 for more than 4 weeks (Dark Knight was #1 for 4 weeks, Avengers/Captain America 2/The Dark Knight Rises were #1 for 3 weeks.
***If you want to count "The Hunger Games" as almost Super Hero movie, it was #1 for 4 weeks, AND HGs opened the same weekend (March 23, 2012) as Bats/Supes.

So, the facts are not backing up your thinking.
-There are enough room for all of us Fan Boys, which I am a Fan Boy of both, though Supes is the one I grew up with.

***And, Batman has always done well in the Theater, even the bad one (Batman and Robin) made their money back. Well, "Batman and Robin" was so bad, it is amazing it did as well it did in the theaters.

Re: Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) (D: Snyder; S: Gadot)

The films going up against each other wouldn't matter to fanboys, but the other film-going audiences would choose one or the other. It's a horrible idea for either film to open against each other. It's a lose/lose situation.

I agree that both films would suffer. Cap would likely have longer legs unless it's a huge drop in quality from the first two.

The 3rd Cap is being directed by the Russos who directed Winter Soldier, so it's in good hands.

Re: Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) (D: Snyder; S: Gadot)

Those numbers are not impressive at all, WB firmly expects Batman v. Superman to surpass a billion in global box office. Anything less will be seen as a disappointment, at least internally. March has built-in limitations for the comic book audience, kids can't repeatedly see a film over and over again in March due to school. There would be suicides at WB's offices if B v. S did these numbers.

This movie is nothing like Snyder's prior movies, he's handling WB's most bankable property in Batman.

Source?

Looks like MoS actually did a respectable [nearly] $300m and over double that worldwide. That's better than I thought given the negative nonsense spewed here constantly.

I need to watch it again. I just wish they'd put out a non filtered version (kinda like the B&W version of the Mist).

Looks like they're definitely going for an aging Wayne/Batman (mild spoilers):

Come on, most of these movie are not anything compared to Bats/Supes movie.
-If Hunger Games does $400 million, I believe Bats/Supes/Wonder Woman should as much or more.
-There has only been 19 movies go over $1 Billion, so the odds are it will not go over that number.
-Only 4 Super Hero movies have gone over a Billion: 2 Bats, IronMan 3, Avengers (2 DC, 2 Marvel), so the odds is against Bats/Supes going over 1 Billion.

My point showing these numbers was March has produced great numbers for avg movies.

Either another major disaster befalls Metropolis or we'll find out that Bruce Wayne was in Metropolis when Superman fought Zod.

It would be interesting to see that event from Wayne's point of view.

My first thought upon seeing that footage was that this particular scene takes place during the destruction of Metropolis in Man of Steel.
