Guess The Lost Symbol wasn't even worth making into a movie. Inferno was okay, just not sure it's worth seeing on the big screen.

Dan Brown's Inferno Headed to the Screen in 2015

Inferno, the latest novel to follow the adventures of Robert Langdon (played by Tom Hanks in The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons), is heading to the big screen. Sony Pictures has dated the film for December 18, 2015 with David Koepp adapting the screenplay, Deadline reports.

The book itself marks the fourth novel to follow Langdon. The third book, The Lost Symbol, is still eyed for a big screen version, but is expected at a later date. Published earlier this year, Inferno is officially described as follows:

In the heart of Italy, Harvard professor of symbology Robert Langdon is drawn into a harrowing world centered on one of history’s most enduring and mysterious literary masterpieces... Dante’s Inferno.

Against this backdrop, Langdon battles a chilling adversary and grapples with an ingenious riddle that pulls him into a landscape of classic art, secret passageways, and futuristic science. Drawing from Dante’s dark epic poem, Langdon races to find answers and decide whom to trust... before the world is irrevocably altered.

UPDATE: It has now been revealed that Hanks is set to reprise the Langdon role with Howard returning to direct.

I haven't read Inferno so I don't know of its decent or not but I ended up really liking the book and film version of Angels and Demons so I'll see a new movie in the theater when it's released. The Da Vinci Code was only OK as a book and movie.

The Lost Symbol was a fun book but nothing special. I'm guessing it was passed up in favor of Inferno to keep the film series with a European setting as opposed to running around DC.

I liked the Inferno book much, much more then Lost Symbol. Neither are as good as Angels & Demons or Da Vinci though. I'd be down to watch more.

The first two movies were dreadful affairs. Not interested in anymore from this crew.

I actually liked Angels and Demons more than The Da Vinci Code (mainly because the female lead was hotter ;))

But seriously, I thought it was better paced and had more action.

I'd be game for more adventures with Bob Langdon

I'm 3/4 of the way through the book and it's not nearly as exciting as The Lost Symbol was, but it will be easier to make.

I've liked all of the books, but as for movie versions, I loved The DaVinci Code and hated Angels and Demons... but I'm game for another film.

Haven't been a fan of either of the movies thus far. The Lost Symbol book left a sour taste in my mouth so I'm not eager to dive into Inferno just yet (though likely will at some point for the heck of it).

Took long enough. That's six years in between Angels & Demons and this (whereas it was only 3 between DVC and A&D). Of course, that's assuming they keep that December 18 date which I'm doubting since it's set to open opposite Star Wars Episode VII.

And kind of off-topic, but the week after (12/23 and 12/25) is Kung Fu Panda 3 and Mission Impossible 5 respectively.

I liked INFERNO, although the villain's motivations are a little wacky (and give the book a reason to be paranoid and preachy).

THE LOST SYMBOL was already made into a movie before that book was even released. It's called NATIONAL TREASURE 2. :)

I liked the first two. But they are incredibly slow movies. When you start noticing shit like the ice in your bourbon slowly melting during the course of a movie, you know it has to be epic.
